Will women's colleges lose money by admitting men?

I've been reading about old-established women's colleges such as Newnham College Cambridge welcoming trans-identifying male students.

But I've also heard that a lot of universities rely on (a) overseas students, and (b) money donated or left in wills by old graduates.

Surely women who have benefited from single-sex university education, and have fond memories of their time there, may withdraw their support if the college goes sneakily co-ed by letting in men if they claim to be women?

And surely those wealthy parents from traditional societies who don't want their daughters mixing with male students may simply choose to have them educated elsewhere?

Does anyone know if this is happening?

Well, I donate to Newnham's yearly campaign.
I nearly didn't donate this year due to this, so i can imagine some may stop. Though whether it make a significant difference is another matter.

New Hall (as was) too. If anyone isn’t donating because of this, please please make it clear to your college why not. They need to know how much women care about this

My partner has stopped donating to her college for this reason, as have many friends. This is in the US. She stopped a few years ago now, and reminds them each year why. More and more friends are also stopping. I don't know if it will be enough to make a difference, but it might. (She has also resigned from the Democratic Party over this issue, but has not registered as a Republican. Again, I don't know if enough people are doing this to encourage the Democrats to rethink their position. I fear not.)

The question of wills is also interesting. I can think of at least one US women's college that now admits males with trans identities where the founding endowment is tied to the exclusive education of women. I suspect it is only a matter of time before alumnae fed up with the status quo start looking at the various legalities. This is of course not simple, because state and federal legislation on gender (by which they mean sex) are not always concordant.

They’ve been doing this for some years. I actually think they are changing the direction of travel now.
