Welcomes Nadia Whittome, Kim Leadbetter, and Kevin McKenna.

This is very, very bad news for women.

Dont understand. Didn't think there were any vacancies.

Did some resign, and if so who.

Coul be an interesting indication.

KafkasScooter · 28/10/2025 18:32

Have just cancelled my Labour membership. F@ck them. I didn't leave the left. The left, left me.

Talkinpeace · 28/10/2025 18:39

Kirith Entwhistle left yesterday
Katherine Fookes
Natalie Fleet

KafkasScooter · 28/10/2025 18:44

Coupled with what AOC said about Riley Gaines, I've just lost all faith that left wing parties will support my sex based rights. I'm not a right-winger but am prepared to vote for right of centre parties until I feel that the sex based rights of me and my three girls are safe.

It has become my number one voting issue, the hill!

Labour - you lost me! I'm done.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 28/10/2025 18:50

In essence the committee exists now to ensure that men's rights are not inconvenienced by women or by equality needs.

Is there anyone left yet of those who were saying pre election that once Labour was in power we'd find out they cared about women all along and would be ethical/competent/not misogynist/ not insane?

KafkasScooter · 28/10/2025 18:53

Can we have a 'Spartacus' type thread again where we all tell Labour to do one - 'I'm a former Labour voter!', 'No, I'm a former Labour voter!' 🤣

ArabellaSaurus · 28/10/2025 19:10

I'm a former Labour voter.

Never again, while they continue with this shit.

That's hard to follow.

Will look them up later.

Talkinpeace · 28/10/2025 19:15

@IwantToRetire
yes, not my best post. Too many tabs open.

All three stood down yesterday and were replaced by Mad Nad and Killer Kim and the HIV+ bloke

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 28/10/2025 19:16

I'm a former labour voter, never again, I'd rather waste my vote by spoiling my ballot, than have my vote abused by the arseholes in the political class. 🤬

ScoldsBridal · 28/10/2025 17:35

Well who decided who gets onto the committee? Because this looks like a concerted effort to steer things in a very distinct direction. Is it window dressing to appease those upset with Wes Streeting? Does it have teeth or will it just allow for a load of empty, virtue-signalling and make out that the government really care about trans people?

We know it’s not about protecting women’s sex-based rights at all because none of those MPs care about that. Are labour panicking because they think the Greens are storming ahead in the polls with their TWAW stance. Because if they are, I think they’re digging themselves further and further into the electoral grave.

I suspect that the Left are simply trying to assert control over any levers they still have available; hence the election of Lucy Powell to deputy leader.

Shortshriftandlethal · 28/10/2025 19:38

Talkinpeace · 28/10/2025 18:39

And what were their positions on women's sex based protections?

No, no! Your post was fine. I somehow couldn't follow the info as posted by the EHRC.

I thought there would be a by date list to show who resigned, who took their place!

I will have to google them all later.

But feel is they were picked to join, they are "on message" for the dominant Labour group.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 28/10/2025 19:50

Perhaps all the other Labour MP's voting them onto the committee because they want to put all their loonies in one basket, which they will now proceed to ignore.

You never know, it could happen 😂.

ItsCoolForCats · 28/10/2025 20:01

Whatthechicken · 28/10/2025 17:03

Personally I think, and have done for a while that they are going to try to change the Equality Act so the Supreme Court Ruling is irrelevant. I think we are entering into extremely vulnerable territory.

They won't be able to change the Equality Act without full public scrutiny and debate though. Too many people will make a fuss.

I doubt even Zack Polanski would want to open that can of worms, despite all the sound bites.

Maybe! Either way, Rosie Duffield will be feeling a bit lonely on that committee.

I bet, I've been there, not at a government level obviously, but the lone voice in a group, it's very frustrating. I only hope she's taking lots and lots of notes, so she can write a blistering exposé on the moronic meatheads we've voted into power.

I'd buy a copy of that book. 👍

frostedpixie · 28/10/2025 21:03

At this point Labour just seem to be gaslighting women on a daily basis.
They sure as shit don't want to be in power after the next election. They're basically handing it to the Right on a silver platter.

JanesLittleGirl · 28/10/2025 21:03

moto748e · 28/10/2025 20:06

Maybe! Either way, Rosie Duffield will be feeling a bit lonely on that committee.

And the only reason that Rosie is on the committee is because the Tories gave up a seat to her as they felt that she would do a better job than any Tory MP.

moto748e · 28/10/2025 21:11

Yeah, I know! One other Tory on the committee, Rebecca Paul. I don't know if there are any sane ones amongst the Labour MPs, and the LibDem woman is awful.

It was uncontested.
Buggins turn.
Nobody chose.
Three vacancies, three volunteers.

Its sad that no sound back benchers were willing to join the committee and speak up for sanity

Talkinpeace · 28/10/2025 18:18

All were elected unopposed
ie the pro women and pro disabled and pro lesbian MPs did not put themselves forward

But two of those elected are women (of which one is a lesbian, and one bisexual). Why wouldn't they be pro women and pro lesbian?

Ask them what a woman is.

The Plaid Cymru one is as well, I remember her from the interview with Baroness Falkner, beclowning herself and claiming to speak for Wales, thereby embarrassing us all in Wales.🤬
