Responds to criticism by not responding to criticism

A fun run that was specifically marketed as 'inclusive' as well! You couldn't make it up 🤦🏻‍♂️

Women just don't count as real people it seems. Not for the first time, eh?

JudgeBread · 15/10/2025 13:22

"steps should have been taken to accommodate women"

We've been doing that in this country for some time funnily enough, doesn't usually require an action plan. Fucking joke.

This is making it sound that women entering was some kind of problem that had to be solved

You havent been paying attention to the problems in UK mosques if any of this surprises you.

lcakethereforeIam · 15/10/2025 16:47

This

everyone is welcome at the park to cheer on the runners

Literally only acceptable as support humans.

I now get suspicious every time I hear the word
'inclusive'

So no answer whatsoever to the question: why were women excluded?

Colour me surprised.

Londonmummy66 · 15/10/2025 16:53

Reading that I suspect that they were disingenuous about the community involvement when talking to a number of sponsors and the Council. Their website described it as a family inclusive event and that everyone was welcome but you only see the exclusion for girls over 13 and women when you look at the bit about who can enter. I raised this with the London Marathon charity as they were listed as a sponsor and they indicated that supporting the event in this format was an oversight (which implies that they weren't told quite how it would be organised). It is really bad though.

A Spokesman said "“Many Muslim women from our community actively participate in sporting events, including boat races, cycling, hiking and marathons as well as various sporting challenges to raise funds for charity,” they told Civil Society.
But not actually in Bethnal Green or Whitechapel.
Neither are Muslim women using bicycles in their everyday journeys. It is NOT accepted. A kind of soft prohibition.

The spokesperson added that the Maryam Centre, which is part of the mosque, was one of the first purpose-built women’s facilities of its kind in the UK when it opened over a decade ago.
Totally separate from the male facilities I presume. Does it have a separate entrance?

Surrendered wife/"sisters" is a whole thing.

When the Taliban returned in 2021 the R4 religious news dredged up a woman from 5 Pillars who lectured a female Afghan refugee on how they were correct to interpret law like that and she trusted her brethren.

Have a pat on the head there

This popped up on X yesterday. I was horrified to see this woman supporting the exclusion of women https://www.gbnews.com/news/mosque-park-run-martin-daubney-slaps-down-gb-news-guest-claim-anti-muslim-campaign

Sometimes I think of the enthusiasm with which the young ‘Isis brides’ zipped off to Iraq (or wherever) and some became vicious female enforcers of the draconian rules on local women. I was quite horrified at the stories of violence perpetrated by young women on other women. I think similar happened in China during the Cultural Revolution.

Obviously this woman is not advocating violence but it makes me think about how determined some women are to make other women suffer.
