Furries on Facebook - should I comment?

A Facebook friend who I know in real life has posted a picture of herself and her sister posing with two male Furries on a beach (they are on holiday in Spain I think). The men are in leather bondage gear and leather dog masks. For context, both ladies are very involved in dogs, and compete with them, which I also used to do. I no longer compete, but keep up to date with friends from the events through Facebook, so there is a large circle of mutual friends and acquaintances. Everyone seems to think this is hilarious and many have made humorous comments about this "new breed". I'm torn - say nothing or make a comment, and if so, how to explain that these Furries are not as harmless as they seen? There are a lot of families who compete in our sport and the children could be very attracted to the costumes without being aware that this is a fetish? For further context both ladies are about my age, mid sixties, but the sport involves people of all ages. Maybe I am over-reacting?

I don't think you should say anything, particularly if the comment section is laughing along with them. Nobody has committed a crime. You'll be seen as a fun sucker. Sometimes we need to keep our thoughts to ourselves!

I'd steer clear of a comment. It sounds as though it's been done to cause a laugh and not make a point.

I think this sounds more like what they call pup play rather than furries. More of a bondage type thing where they dress up and have handlers etc. All a bit odd but I think it’s more of an adult thing than the furries (at least I hope so).

I would comment OMG my eyes! Or I didn’t know you were into kinky stuff wink wink…

the fact they were outside displaying their fetish is NOT ok. What happened to public decency

I'm not sure two women in their sixties will react well to you acting like their Mum and ticking them off for having a laugh, but I suspect you know that.

At least you can start another thread about how all your friends are blocking you because you don't agree with their licentiousness.

Yes, I think you are correct, I got a bit mixed up with the terminology and could only think of the word furries, although I suppose they are two sides of the same coin, as it is all fetish-related.

You could ask them how their tails are attached. That might open their eyes!

Having read your replies, and taken a bit of time to consider them, I think I was perhaps overreacting, so I won't make any comment on Facebook. My initial feelings may have been influenced due to a young relative who was sa some years ago, which has made me be very wary of deviant behaviour. I was disturbed by the thought that these two ladies were unwittingly playing a part in the men's fetish, but to say anything now would just spoil what is for them just a happy holiday encounter with two rather strange blokes.

I would just like to correct a little bit of misinformation on this post: when you are a furry, you have an interest in anthropomorphic animals, and might express this by creating your own anthro character (a fursona) and potentially dressing up as it (called a fursuit) and going out in public wearing it (called public fursuiting). As a person who's child is a furry, I can confirm that it is not a sexual fetish and is instead a way for a child to express themselves and have fun.

Sure, maybe there are a few people in the community who are sexual fetishes, however that does not mean the whole community is like that.

Also to @Weneedmoreheretics from what I've seen Reduxx is a transphobic website which makes it an unreliable source to get information of furries, especially trans activists, as it will automatically lean towards the bad furries, painting the entire community in a bad way. I accept that some furries are sexual fetishes, but you cannot generalise a whole community on the actions of some.
