NCSC competition which is open to all "female-identifying students" breaches equality law

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/09/10/spy-bosses-let-trans-students-join-girls-computer-lessons/

It's concerning how deeply embedded this ideology appears to be within the Civil Service.

TIMs are massively overrepresented in computing (which I guess is autism-related), as are males in general, but this government agency still wants to include them in programmes to encourage women and girls. Hopefully they'll take heed of Maya's letter pointing out that they're in breach of the law with this.

Yeah this "female-identifying" thing always gets me going.
I suppose I can "male-identify", or do I have to stick a tube between my legs?

FfsHmm
why are these organisations so stupid?

ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2025 18:22

They’re discriminating against girls who are in some way ‘transidentifying’ - transboys and nonbinary and don’t ’identify as girls’.

I was looking at the details of a Women in STEM recruitment event today. Under "Who can attend," it says, "Our events are perfect for students and recent graduates who identify as women or non-binary but are open to all regardless of gender."

So this event is not "perfect" for actual women who have no gender identity - though since it is actually "open to all regardless of gender", I guess anyone can go regardless, including men. Confused So much for encouraging women in STEM.

If the statement said ‘Our events are perfect for FEMALE students and recent graduates who identify as women or non-binary but are open to all WOMEN regardless of gender’ then that would be fine. Then you can identify yourself out of it if you want to cut your nose off to spite your face.
I bet it goes on a list of events to promote women in industry so they can all pat themselves on the back.

Or just ‘our events are perfect for all female students and recent graduates, including those who identify as nonbinary or as transmen.’

MarieDeGournay · 13/09/2025 09:47

They're really saying 'Open to girls, and just about anybody else, as long as you use the magic word 'identifies'🙄

Yes. Exactly. Inclusive of gender questioners, but promotes women.

UnpaintedLily · 13/09/2025 20:24

Why over-complicate matters? 'Our event is for female students and recent graduates'. The sooner organisations stop behaving as if a private, unverifiable aspect of someone's identity has any relevance in public domains, the better.
