Well, that's crystal clear, isn't it? Even if you're a totally committed climate change campaigner, if you don't believe TWAW, the Scottish Greens don't want your vote.

Basic human decency also means listening to women who don’t want to share their intimate spaces with biological males. Where is her decency? Where is her empathy? What makes a woman behave like this?

100%

The stern admonishment of rape survivors, religious women, or any woman who just doesn't feel comfortable being naked or vulnerable in a space with a strange man is entirely unkind, it's unspeakably cruel, sexist and illogical.

But this is the party of Mridul 'reframe your trauma' Wadhwa.

The Greens at least don't even pretend to give a fuck about women, with the exception of Gillian Mackay, who made the sole useful contribution they've come up with in the past few years - the buffer zone around abortion clinics. I'd hoped for a glimmer of empathy from her. But no. Women's rights are a red line for her.

You've drawn it, Gillian. At least we all know where we stand.

ArabellaSaurus · 10/09/2025 19:49

“We would argue that the Equality Act clearly does need to be changed to clarify the rights of trans people, and in this case, in particular, trans women.”

They want to rewrite the Equality Act to say that men can access women's spaces and services, is this what he means?

ArabellaSaurus · 10/09/2025 19:51

I'll also just note that this is the precise equivalent of the SGP saying that they will exclude all followers of a particular religion from the party.

I'm not sure that's even legal. That's overt, open and explicit discrimination on the basis of a protected characteristic.

Anyone who may have wanted to be a member of the SGP but holds gender critical views could potentially sue them, I think. I'm sure a legal bod will be able to confirm.

ArabellaSaurus · 10/09/2025 20:00

Perhaps any person who is considering joining the SGP would like to contact them and check whether they are permitted to join if they hold 'gender critical' views. I'm sure they'll be happy to clarify.

https://www.equalityhumanrights.com/equality/equality-act-2010/your-rights-under-equality-act-2010/religion-or-belief-discrimination

'The Equality Act 2010 says you must not be discriminated against because:

  • you are (or are not) of a particular religion
  • you hold (or do not hold) a particular philosophical belief
  • someone thinks you are of a particular religion or hold a particular belief (this is known as discrimination by perception)'

However, perhaps political parties are excluded on this basis:

'Circumstances when being treated differently due to religion or belief is lawful

...an organisation is taking positive action to encourage or develop a group of people with a religion or belief that is under-represented or disadvantaged in a role or activity
...
A difference in treatment may be lawful in situations outside the workplace such as if:
...
a religious or belief organisation is restricting its membership or participation in its activities, or the provision of goods, facilities and services to persons of a particular religion or belief. This only applies to organisations whose purpose is to practice, promote or teach a religion or belief, whose sole or main purpose is not commercial. A restriction can only be imposed:

if the purpose of the organisation is to provide services to one religion or belief

if it is necessary to avoid causing offence to persons with the same religion or belief as the organisation

an organisation is taking positive action to encourage or develop a group of people with a religion and belief that is under-represented or disadvantaged in an activity

the circumstances fall under one of the other exceptions to the Equality Act that allow organisations to provide different treatment or services based on religion or belief'

So, the SGP are effectively setting themselves up as an organisation promoting the particular belief that 'Transwomen (men) are women'?

The Scottish Greens voted en masse against the six words amendment of the Forensic Medical Examiners Bill.

That's enough for me to never contemplate voting for them.

They can only get MSP's elected through the list system. They have shown themselves totally incompetent at any type of environment initiative. They are run by no nothing activists with no life experience beyond student politics.

Only TRAs should vote for the Scottish Greens
terryleather · 10/09/2025 20:18

That's fine by me - I wouldn't give that bunch of wackjob misogynists a lick o' my shite anyway.

TwelvePercent · 10/09/2025 20:22

TWAW, greyhound rights and dog collars.

It is indeed a bold strategy for success.

WandaWomblesaurusWonka · 10/09/2025 22:06

Mackay’s career is now tied to a sinking ship as the extreme edges of trans activism are exposed. Public opinion is swinging back to women’s rights, protection of children, safeguarding, and the law. Her pompous red line speech is going to become her albatross unless the men she champions behave themselves.
Which of course they won’t.

ArabellaSaurus · 11/09/2025 07:00

It's been how many months since a trans identifying Scottish Green has been revealed as a sex pest?

Baffling that they keep maintaining this never happens, despite it never happening with the highest frequency in their own party.

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 11/09/2025 07:07

They should rename themselves the Pinks and Blues.

Highlandtown · 01/04/2026 08:03

I know someone who wants to see the Greens leading the Scottish independence 😭
Please someone tell me this scenario would never happen 🤐

ArabellaSaurus · 01/04/2026 08:06

Lsst polls I saw looked like a Green/SNP coalition is quite likely.

But as far as I'm aware support for indie remains roughly where it always is. Which is to say, not enough.

Is this why the SNP is prepared to die on the hill of keeping violent men in women's prisons? Because they will need the Greens support again? How depressing.

ArabellaSaurus · 01/04/2026 09:08

Oh fuck only knows. Maybe one day the court case outcomes will be instructive.

I see Maggie (I don't know what sex I am) Chapman has managed to weedle herself back in. 😳 Greens obviously as corrupt as the SNP.

Rats! 😡 I'd hoped we'd seen the back of the egregious Chapman.
