USA Cycling announces new Women's Category for....actual women.

This seems to have got a bit lost amongst recent news. Hopefully an end to cheats like Austin Killips (amongst others) taking women's prizes and prize money. Interestingly it is based on the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

Women’s Category.
Pursuant to the requirements set out above, the Women’s Category is limited to individuals who meet the following definition of female:
“Female means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell.”
For purposes of applying this requirement, an individual who was not identified as female at birth may not participate in the Women’s Category at any Competitive Event.

Men’s/Open Category.
Any individual, irrespective of sex assigned at birth, is permitted to compete in the Men’s/Open category at any Competitive Event, subject to the regulations specified in USA Cycling’s Rulebook.

There are concerns because enforcement will be based on participants "warranting" they are eligible (i.e. self-id), but that is also subject to challenge by USA Cycling. So we'll see. It comes into effect on 15 September 2025.

Good bees. I hope they strip all the men of their titles and reissue prize money to women.

*news 🤣

It'll never catch on😊

What next? Votes!?

Sounds positive. I guess we will find out about whether the challenge by the cycling body will mean testing.

I think this is not a good policy obviously. Because it means that male people could lie and it will require someone to report it. It should be testing for all entering the female category.

"Pursuant to the requirements set out above, the Women’s Category is limited to individuals who meet the following definition of female:

WOW. This is actually a very big deal that they stated it this way. There's was this ridiculous effort by TRAs to try and convince people the world that all embryos actually start off female and only become male as it starts to develop into a fetus. Which we all know is untrue sperm carries the genetic markers that determine sex meaning sex, as USA cycling states, is "assigned" (well, by a sperm, so to speak) at conception, not birth. There is never a moment in human development where chromosomes change or evolve as Tra try desperately to make us believe.

Also, many of the other sports bodies that have finally implemented restrictions still allow for competitors who transitioned prior to a certain age or point in development (which many experts say still doesn't erase the advantage, but I digress).

The fact that they're saying, unequivocally, that no, you must be 100% XX female And slyly indicating that they know that happens at conception, sounds like they've clearly peaked.

And the fact that they say females "belong" to their sex and sex is "identified" not assigned. Chefs kiss!

Though it's a bit strange that they go on to say:

"Men’s/Open Category.
Any individual, irrespective of sex assigned at birth,...."

Edited

Covers cases of male athletes with DSDs, perhaps?
So even if assigned female at birth, if they're not actually female, they are not eligible for the female category.

As PPs have said, the policy needs mandatory sex screening to work because it could get very nasty for individuals who come under suspicion otherwise as well as still potentially allowing males in the female category.

Why do they do something good, finally, and then use "assigned at birth"
