Sandie Peggie raises new NHS legal action

Sandie Peggie's action is separate from her ongoing case with the health board and Dr Beth Upton, whom she took to an employment tribunal.

She alleged harassment and victimisation under the Equality Act 2010 relating to her gender critical beliefs.

Ms Peggie's fresh claim arises from three senior staff opposing a decision by another manager to lift her suspension in March last year.

Ms Peggie's legal team said this only became known to Ms Peggie during evidence given as part of the tribunal.

They said further claims of harassment and victimisation will be made against both the health board and specific employees over the coming months.

Not sure if this should be a separate thread, as it has come about because of ongoing case.

So if most want to continue on existing thread, but thought this would highlight a further aspect of what she has had to face.

Thank you.

I had wondered how many fresh civil actions might arise from this tribunal hearing.

Fortunately the claimant has the resources available to be able to pursue all such avenues, I believe. I am pleased about that, as she does it for the many.

Ms Peggie is formidable and I wish her well. How she has the resilience and energy for another fight I have no idea but I thank her.

I suspect there wont be much more news in the near future as presumably all the legal papers etc., will have to be put together.

But thought it worth acknowledging as well as keeping an eye out for future development.

I agree. But what a sad world that it seems to come down to a few brave women acting on their own.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if within the NHS she had a support group, and others speaking up.

And although these women who are so brave to act as an individual, over all it just makes it seem that as a whole others dont care, or it isn't that important.

And the lone individual remains "lone" rather than starting an area of common agreement that many can sign up to.

It is sad, but true. "Brave women acting on their own" happens time and again. The NHS is absolutely notorious for hierarchical structures that don't allow dissent from any quarter. Nursing is one of the worst offenders.
