Horrifying testimonies seek to lift shroud of silence around ritual sex abuse claims

Police have opened an investigation into multiple allegations of organized ritual sexual abuse after accusers relayed harrowing testimony of torture, rape and other horrors to lawmakers late last month.

The July 27 hearing included testimony from alleged victims, now adults, regarding abuse they had experienced as children, primarily in the ultra-Orthodox and national-religious communities in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Haifa, Safed and elsewhere.

Accusers recounted tales of gruesome sexual abuse they experienced as children, usually by groups of people, involving ritualistic, religious rhetoric and iconography. The abuse took place in schools, synagogues, private homes, warehouses, cemeteries and forests, they alleged.

“The police received material about this a year ago, and said they would investigate, but they didn’t,” said Orit Sulitzeanu, the executive director of the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel, who has been working with victims of organized ritual sexual abuse for over a year to bring their claims to light.

Please note some details of abuse in this article maybe hard for some to read.

Syed is half Pakistani himself. Were they going to accuse anyone of racism who mentions this???

I think some people get a bit obsessed about particular points or concepts they have.

If there is evidence of this then good on the reporter for writing about it.

But equally unless and until someone does a world wide analysis of all results that indicate a child born of incest, not sure if is worth going on about it.

Judging by the Europe wide study I posted about earlier in this thread, rates of incest seem to be at about the same level in all countries.

In this instance, if it is true, there is the fact that for historical reasons many Pakistani communities in the UK are quite insular.

So that fits the general pattern of where incest and abuse happens.

Not forgetting that there is a high level of first cousin marriages, which has been going on for generations.

The point made in the article was that the figures are notably higher than the general population. Its noteworthy because we have evidence and nothing is done with it, leaving women and girls to be abused because it’s difficult for authorities to confront abuse within closed communities. Just like the issue with ultra orthodox Jewish communities, it’s easier to just leave it alone.

I’m not sure we need to know about incest rates across the world to make a judgement about whether there is a problem in the UK. We can’t fix the world but we can try to fix the UK. We can’t say “not here thank you very fucking much”.

Again insular communities where women and children are made to feel they have to hide abuse from the authorities on the behalf of their abusers.

This study of incest in Punjab Pakistan makes the case that incest is more likely in a patriarchal setting. Within the study a comparison is made between households where men rule over all the decisions and those where women do.

But cousin marriage, though harmful to the health of the offspring, is a long way from ritual sexual abuse.

The article specifically talks about children born of incest as in the father is a brother or father. Please read it again, you may have missed it.

Yes not surprising at all, I think what's common in all these is the use of shame. One of the studies posted here on Israel pointed to people hiding it to save the family and the child the shame of it becoming public knowledge. The excuse is always about saving the family and the child from stigmatisation and worries that they may not be able to find a spouse later. It’s an insane take.

“I then came across evidence that scientists examining the UK Biobank had found that levels of incest (father-daughter, siblings etc) were significantly higher in the British Pakistani community than the wider population. This was a disturbing finding, possibly indicating abuse of a shocking kind. But the paper was never published”

Thats the relevant bit in the article.

TRIGGER
About 15 years ago in The Times I read about an Imam in an Arab country who had been raping his 4 year old daughter. He blamed her for his lust so he also punished her. This included burning her with cigarette butts. The case elicited comments ( not U.K.) that beautiful baby/little girls should be put in burkas.

I was trying to Google the case using some key words but could not find it. But so many others came up of Imams and little girls in mosques, and a dreadful case of a Shia Muslim in Singapore who routinely raped 5 of his many daughters from his multiple marriages having persuaded their mothers that the Quran wanted him to do this.

As has happened in other countries where the patriarchs in their religion abuse the women and children in their control.

sigh.

Yes, they do it and reverse the blame.

This is a follow up news report and it sounds worse and worse. Including testimony from one survivor saying she was abused after being taken to the Knesset itself.

And another about how the police didn't follow up on her testimony as they weren't aware there was an ongong investigation it should be linked to.

I am not going to quote from the article as some of it is really disturbing, but sadly so close to reports from other countries, where women and children trapped in a cult can be abused, traded and humiliated and have no recourse to escaping.

https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-879095

But will quote this:

The Knesset Research and Information Center recently noted that Israel has no legal definition for “ritual abuse,” creating profound gaps in detection, data collection, and prosecution, and leaving the state with almost no reliable information on the scope of the phenomenon.

MKs warn of systemic failure on ritual abuse cases | The Jerusalem Post

The testimonies describe patterns of abuse that survivors say were organized, repeated, ideologically framed, and allegedly carried out by groups of adults.

It is horrifying and it seems there is no real will to do anything about it. Those poor children.

IwantToRetire · 06/12/2025 23:17

And it doesn't seem to matter which ethnic group, which religion, or which country.

And the really depress and terrifying thing is that these groups of men are not censored let alone charged by the men in positions of power, where ever it is.

All over the world women and girls are made to give their testimonies to try and shame men into punishing the men concerned. And someone the "authorities" always have some reason, or unfortunate mistake or error, as to why it never happens.

Just make you think that even the men who dont actively abuse young women and girls, somehow think men have a right or just cant help it.

Where is the outraged.

Where is the social condemnation.
