Great article from brave women. With the Senedd elections less than 10 months away focus on what is going in Wales has to draw more attention.

When Rhun met WRN-ers

Like the SNP in Scotland, Plaid Cymru is an important part of our political system and, even though they have never held a majority, their policies in the Senedd are influential. Depending on whichever polls you believe, they could end up the biggest party in Wales in the Senedd elections in 2026.

However, like the SNP, they don’t have the rosiest record when it comes to representing, or listening to women, despite their boasts of ‘tolerance’.

When Rhun met WRN-ers | Women's Rights Network | UK

I did not hesitate to join my fellow WRN-ers of all political persuasions who wanted to raise awareness about the party’s lackadaisical, and now unlawful stance on women’s rights (see their website for their ‘values’ on Trans Equality and Inclusion - T...

I note this from your link to PC's equality page
"Uphold trans people's right to continue to access services and facilities in accordance with their gender identity."
Presumably they, along with many other orgs, didn't know, at the time of writing that sentence, it was legally inaccurate.
I mean, I know the internet throws up a lot of stuff that isn't factual. But when you're a political party that aims to run a country, surely you'd get your legal information from an organisation without a bias 🤔 ie: not Stonewall (the modern incarnation of Stonewall anyway).

Yes, it’s the latest version of sticking their fingers in the ears and shouting “lalala” until we go away. Which we won’t.

A great article indeed, I love the cartoon. 😍👍👏

I misread 'lalala' as 'labia'. Which has cheered me immensely.

Thanks to WRN for insisting on being seen and heard. The unequivocal 'no' from the prospective Wrexham candidate is worrying and in line with the public position of current Labour ministers. Left-wing women in Wales (and there are a lot of us) have been disenfranchised for years now - and shut out of all discussions about our right to single-sex services, spaces and sports.

No? No?! Who the Hell does he think he is, FFS!

These days you can be pretty sure any organisation claiming to be ‘tolerant’ is solidly misogynistic.

Thank you for posting this. I have asked Plaid politicians and their followers many times on X about their views on the recent SC ruling. They have all ignored me, so presumably they think this won't come up on the doorsteps next May at Senedd elections. It certainly will on mine! Rhun is lauded as an effective communicator, but not on this subject. I'm sick of politicians depicting transgenders as vulnerable - in what way are they more vulnerable than women? Plaid and Welsh Labour are as bad as each other.

The part of the article that surprised me was when it said that depending on which poll you read, Plaid are likely to be the largest party in Wales after the Senedd election. Is that true? I've heard that Reform are going to be the biggest winners. Who is well versed with this? Or is it wide open?

The polls are not that consistent some have shown a Plaid lead, some Reform, the latest even Labour ahead.

The only general trend is Labour being in trouble, but they still look to come in top three. With an entirely new election system giving full PR, and 16 years olds voting everything to the fact this is going to be the most watched and commentated on election in Senedd history so far I think. Because it looks like Plaid or Reform might have a change to become biggest party and break the Labour monopoly. We could see a far higher turn out than normal with all the excitement. However that in turn may change the vote.

The issue is we have little media focus generally in Wales. So all this attention might be one of the few times that there is ideal territory to try to hold the Welsh government to account. The general public do not know what they have been up to. No one is pointing out besides a small number of gender realists what has been happening.

Be interesting to see what Welsh Labour do now the party rules are shifting towards reality.

I asked her: “do you believe that women deserve single sex-based spaces, Becca?”. Upon hearing her name and realising that she had been recognised, Cllr Martin stopped in the entrance and responded with an emphatic “No”.

I had to read it again, but it's still equally gob-smacking!
