Women's Speaking in Melbourne Australia

Once more brave women are exercising their democratic right and public duty to speak up about how law and policy is erasing women in Australia. The police has created a very large stop and search zone in the Central Business District (CBD). And hopefully will keep the protestors far away from the speaking event. Last April the police did a great job keeping protestors far away from women and the women could actually hear the speakers for the first time. Lets hope women are similarly protected today. There has been a huge call out to disrupt women, the police and the media. They always show who they are. Livestream is on Facebook via Biological Reality Australia - not sure who else will be livestreaming yet but a Youtuber called Auditing Australia usually does too. Thanks for the link. I don't know whether to be outraged, alarmed or just flat out baffled by the pictures of the protesters. They appear to wearing the uniform of the 'I don't care what I protest, so long as I get to dress up in my mock paramilitary outfit' brigade.

Well done to the women who arrange the Pro-Women's Rights event and I'm glad to see the coppers arresting the AIB's, it's usually the other way around.

I am not sure about the protesters get up either. It’s sad that people are so afraid of backlash that they have to cover their faces.

All went well.
The reporting is also becoming more accurate because organisers are pre-empting and complaining where necessary for the news outlets to report more accurately. none of the scuffles in the photos were anywhere near the women's rally.

At one point those with the silly flags in the photo in The Age (think the Guardian type) approached the cordon where attendees were being vetted and the police were proactive - telling them over a loud hailer that they are not to approach the police lines and then proactively pushed them into a nearby park. The dramatic photos are all for the press. I don't know who they're trying to impress.

It was all very exhilarating by the end. For me anyway.

The violence from the TAs was bad. However it shows who they are and the fact the media is actually reporting it is key.

The more women say things the more crazy they will get, and that undermines everything they claim.

I just watched the news on ABC to see their spin on this Women’s Rally.

Well…. OMG!!!!

The news segment did not contain a single “anti-trans” activist slur, not one demeaning slight against the women, and the TRAs were simply referred to as “Counter-protesters”. The words “Trans” and “Transgender” were not mentioned!

They showed the TRAs in their all black outfits, hoods/masks, dark sunglasses, with black umbrellas, and “fascist” signs. The news story showed 1 trans flag, 1 pink and blue sign, a “death to…” sign, counter-protesters making lots of noise (but they were too far away to drown out the women), and a generally intimidating, seething smallish crowd of louts.

The news report detailed that the counter-protesters were violent, aggressive, loud, and brought flares and noise makers/etc with them. Police had to deploy capsicum spray - against the TRAs, and 3 police were injured - by the TRAs.

4 arrests were reported - which were specified to be from the counter-protester side. It was detailed that counter-protesters “clashed with police”, as the police used water filled barriers and police lines to keep the counter-protesters a significant distance away from the women speaking.

The segment also described how the women spoke about their rights, their concerns and their hopes.

It is almost unbelievable that this specific report was a) in the totally captured Australian media (although it was at midnight) and b) it was reported this way on the ABC (a bastion of transgender support and adulation).

Maybe that earthquake that happened this morning here in Australia shook some sense into the media, police and the general public? Or maybe Sall’s case has shone such a brilliant light on just how absurd, illogical and devastating GI actually is?

Whatever the reason for the unprecedented fairness and logical nature of the reporting, I only hope it continues.
