General Medical Council is misleading people

The GMC allows Dr T to change gender. His registration states that he is male and "Not registered-having relinquished registration". I'm a retired doctor and my entry is the same status.
Dr E is female, with a different registration number and is now "Registered with a licence to practice". Dr's T and E have the same qualification date from same medical school, the same dates of provisional then full registration. So one can guess that they are the same person but there is no formal link between the two on the register.

My concern is that if a patient had had an issue with Dr T and looked him up on the register they might be reassured that he was no longer working as a doctor but that is untrue.
When patients have had a medical mishap they often say that they don’t want it to happen to anyone else. It's therefore quite wrong for them to be lied to by the GMC as to the status of the doctor that treated them.

I understood that this was the GMCs policy and it is utterly outrageous and deliberately fraudulent.

What is the point of the GMC if they are not going to hold accurate records?

Sadly I think the telegraph reported on this a couple of months ago. I’m sure that the Mail or the times would be open to reporting on it especially given we’ve had supreme court ruling since then and public opinion against trans nonsense has shifted fast over the last few months.

Charlie Massey the GMC CE and Registrar fobbed off any concerns with a letter to Wes Streeting stating that any history of investigation would still be there on the second registration but did not cover my point that the first registration is misleading in implying that the doctor is no longer in practice. He has only looked at it from the GMC viewpoint and not that of a concerned patient.
I think if you want to be doctor then some rights of privacy may be lost. l am on the register forever despite retirement which is a loss of privacy.

Even if issues of fitness to practice follow you from one gender of registration to another (thank goodness they do or it would be very easy to leave an iffy history behind), the thing that I don't understand being necessary is this changing registration number thing. Why is that necessary?
I have a professional registration, held in two different countries. I got married, changed my name. My registration number in two different countries didn't change.
I really don't see why the GMC has decided to give out new registration numbers to some doctors but not others? Or if you change your name e.g. on marriage, do all doctors get a new registration number?

I changed my name on marriage and my GMC number did not change.
On the original paper record both of my surnames were shown but now on the online register only my married name is listed.
Can't see why both names aren't there. The whole point of having the register online is, correctly, all about openess.
