A second thread to discuss resistance by athletes and others to men in women’s sporting events. We’ve come along way since the beginning of the first thread 2.5 years ago. Lots to celebrate but still much left to do.

A British athlete crowned the world's strongest woman says she was "robbed" of her winning moment after it emerged the original champion was a transgender woman who was ineligible to compete.

Andrea Thompson was awarded the title retrospectively after American athlete Jammie Booker was disqualified.
Thompson told BBC Sport the competition, held in Arlington, Texas, was "overshadowed by somebody who shouldn't have been there".

"I was very frustrated and angry with what she’s done," she said. "She lied and was very dishonest, and took away a lot of things from a lot of women.

"The lady that came 11th didn't get the chance to do the third day... to have the top 10 status in the world."

A top female pool player is taking legal action against her professional sports body after being barred for wearing a body camera at a competition.

Lynne Pinches claims she was wearing the camera for her own protection after becoming embroiled in a row over the inclusion of transgender women in female pool competitions, and had since been subjected to threats.

Pinches, 52, a veteran pool player and tournament winner, said that not only is her route to becoming a professional player now closed, but she is prohibited from supporting her 11-year-old son at pool tournaments…

Bethany Hamilton on why women surfers didn’t complain about male surfers in their events. Because they had signed agreements that fined them $10k if they said something negative about World Surf League.

She didn’t have the same contract so has spoken out.

Sall Grover (@salltweets) on X

“Why don’t more women athletes speak up?” This is why 👇 When World Surf League was putting a man in a bikini in the woman’s category, they made women surfers sign a contract saying they would say nothing negative about it or be fined $10,000.

Oh. Bummer.

I must make a note to check community notes and allow denial time next time.
