Bloody hell that poor woman.

Lins77 · 29/07/2025 22:33

Thank god nothing happened to her.

SternJoyousBeev2 · 29/07/2025 22:38

Utterly grim. Thank goodness the woman was not physically harmed but lord knows the mental impact on her.

GailBlancheViola · 29/07/2025 22:44

Horrendous.

Katkins17 · 29/07/2025 22:51

What is it with these fucking men. Every single day theres another report of men being or doing horrendous things to a woman or girl…. I’m almost at the point of actively disliking them !!!

lcakethereforeIam · 29/07/2025 23:03

I completely agree. If I follow a link to a tabloid or regional newspaper under the actual article they'll be loads of stories about men being convicted for abusing women and children. I know 'if it bleeds it leads' and newspapers are desperate for clicks which might skew the headlines they promote. However, the stories are out there, these men are committing these crimes. There's the odd abusive woman but they're rarely alone. They're usually in kahoots with some man. I'm utterly sick of it.

This poor woman, what a vile and bizarre ordeal.

Lins77 · 29/07/2025 22:33

Thank god nothing happened to her.

Or her daughters - it’s even worse than the headline implies.
What a vile, vile man.

MrsCapGarland · 30/07/2025 11:18

I see the man has been ‘quite distressed since the last hearing’. Diddums.

Rightsraptor · 30/07/2025 11:26

This started in 2018!

And how telling that the woman concerned said that, if you'd given her a list of 500 names of possible culprits, she'd never have picked him.

I'm still trying to figure out 'consensual non-consent'.

I suppose it’s the ‘rape fantasy’ idea.
well, even if that is a fetish for some women, what sort of man would think it’s a good idea to participate? In this case by luck it seems no one did, otherwise it could have ended up analogous to Gisèle Pelicot’s terrible abuse.

Think "safe word" in a role play.
So "no" "stop" " getoff me" etc dont remove "consent".

An analysis of these devices by the Garda National Cyber Crime Unit identified more than 2,000 screenshots from Pulse, 32 records of missing persons and 18 images of Garda age-identification documents.

Det Sgt English agreed with Pádraig Dwyer SC, defending, that his client retired from the gardaí in March this year and had an “unblemished” record of service.

Nope stealing 2050 items of proprietary data is not an umblemished record of service but I assume the Garda was obliged to answer as the internal breachs had to be put on hold for the trial.

Weren’t there police WhatsApp chats where posters expressed the wish that Couzens or similar would deliver corrective rape to their own partners.

And Couzens was in a WhatsApp with Jonathan Cobben and Joel Borders where they joked about raping a female colleague.

Stuff like this is something I can’t bring into my everyday life as the emotional drain of dealing with it is immense.

Lottapianos · 31/07/2025 12:24

Christ Alive, that poor woman. Just when you think you've heard it all, there's always worse to come

Needspaceforlego · 31/07/2025 12:32

And men wonder why women don't trust them?

bombastix · 31/07/2025 12:35

What a bullshit sentence. It should have been doubled.

The sentence is absolute bullshit he put the woman and her daughters in considerable danger ffs. Is there nothing the courts won't go lenient on when it comes to men?

Here's another case, though this police officer seems to have covered the whole range of offensiveness, not just misogynistic-
PSNI officer dismissed over offensive WhatsApp messages

I wonder why his name hasn't been released. To protect him, his victims or to avoid prejudicing a potential jury? Perhaps they'll be further charges?

Following the conclusion of the Police Ombudsman investigation, a file was submitted to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) in relation to the potential offences of misconduct in public office and sending grossly offensive messages contrary to the Communications Act (2003).
The PPS directed no prosecution.

The PSNI is an employer so data protection applies.
Plus anti-terror legislation would likely prevent him being IDed if no criminal charges applied.
So unless he opted for an ET where he is filing against his employer.

As far as I am aware Irish law would have prevented Shane Flanagan be named if the girls were still under 18 as it could result on them as child witnesses/victims being IDed via association

ArabellaScott · 31/07/2025 16:41

Good christ.

MarieDeGournay · 31/07/2025 17:04

At least Conor McGregor lost his appeal against been found liable in a civil court for rape. His appeal was dismissed in its entirety and costs against him were confirmed.

That stops his supporters saying that he couldn't be described as a rapist because he was appealing the decision.
They will still harp on about it not being a civil not a criminal court though..
