Following the conclusion of the Police Ombudsman investigation, a file was submitted to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) in relation to the potential offences of misconduct in public office and sending grossly offensive messages contrary to the Communications Act (2003).
The PPS directed no prosecution.
The PSNI is an employer so data protection applies.
Plus anti-terror legislation would likely prevent him being IDed if no criminal charges applied.
So unless he opted for an ET where he is filing against his employer.
As far as I am aware Irish law would have prevented Shane Flanagan be named if the girls were still under 18 as it could result on them as child witnesses/victims being IDed via association
