Spent the day on Ian Dunt's Bluesky. Well that was an education, bloody hell!

Ha, you sound like my kind of person! Pissing off both sets of extremists is just my cup of chai.

Look for stuff on the Peggie tribunal on BSky and you'll find us!

I'm so disappointed in Ian Dunt.

He was brilliant on Brexit.

Just goes to show he's not actually a great thinker, but someone who gets his political opinions as part of a package deal.

I'm not on Blue-sky and left X last year. I was fiercely anti Brexit and I find it disturbing that some of the heroes of the anti campaign are now such swivel eyed trans nuts. Namely Jo Maugham and Dunt. I'm still anti Brexit but I now wonder if they just got high on being patronising and shouting at 'stupid' people. Shouting at terfs is going about as well as shouting at 'gammon' did.

I agree with this.

In the dim and distant past, before I deactivated my Twitter account, I replied to a tweet by someone I had followed in the Brexit days, disagreeing with his pro self ID position and putting forward the women's rights angle.

I received a torrent of abuse in response, in which he said that as a remain supporter I should be ashamed of myself for having such a transphobic opinion. I mildly pointed out that Brexit and trans are two completely separate issues and just because you support one doesn't mean you have to support the other.

He told me to fuck off and blocked me, and I spent a long time afterwards contemplating whether that was how most remainers came across to leavers or undecideds, which might explain the result.

Calling people stupid and bigoted never, ever brings them round to your point of view.

The left has always force teamed issues. Then it chucked women under the bus and blamed them. The issue is important enough to chuck women under a bus, but not important enough for women to refuse to be chucked under a bus.

That's why I and many others can no longer stand it. So many of its representatives don't actually care about issues or people, it's all about self righteous, self aggrandising, performative virtue signalling. Betraying women for men while calling themselves progressives, silencing dissent while calling themselves liberal.

I used to love Dunt, full on Remainiac me. And early on he was 'soft' gender critical.
He blocked me on twitter when he posted in support of trans people playing in ladies chess and I had a full on rant at him how he never said a word to defend women's sport against the infringement of men, but when he thought it was the 'soft' option of chess he suddenly had an opinion.
He's lost, too many friends with trans kids including his podcast best mate.
Have lost all respect for him, and yes shouting transphobic is about as effective as shouting gammon.
All his books went to the charity shop including 'How to be a Liberal'.
A waste of time and space.

Yep and my frustration is how (exactly like brexit) they can't or won't see the open goal they're giving to Reform with this especially as the new Magic Grandpa party has one of Labour TRA in chief Zarah Sultana as a key player so will be totally TWAW

but yeah sure Ian and co you keep on denying reality because that's working out so well politically

Oh god please don’t say Zarah Sultana is a raging TRA….. how disappointing

Sorry but she's one of the most vehement

Of course she is. Why are you surprised?

"Solidarity with trans women after today’s Supreme Court ruling.

The rollback of LGBT rights — especially trans rights — is global, bankrolled by billionaires and the far-right.

Trans rights are human rights. We must defend the Equality Act and its protections for trans people."

Ian Dunt did actually agree with some of JKR when she wrote her essay, or at least defended her right to say it whereas Alex Andreou was always a TRA. I think ID has spent too much time with Jolyon and Dorian Lynskey who can’t look at the issue clearly for obvious reasons. Like other posters have said his stance does make you question his opinions in general. And I’d agree on the Remain + anti women’s rights link. So many of the MPs and figures who appeared on Remainiacs then became pro TRA.

Crouton19 · 27/07/2025 21:57

Well it's great to know us pro-EU sex realists are a sizeable number.

AA has a great podcast series at the moment, 'Podessy', about Greek myths and legends. Much better than Quiet Riot and the other stuff that popped up as Remaniacs/OGWN ran out of things to say.

worstofbothworlds · 27/07/2025 21:59

My money is on Natalie Haynes for Greek myths

Off topic but I bought one of her books and haven't read it yet. Are you recommending her?

worstofbothworlds · 27/07/2025 22:25

I listened to A Thousand Ships. It was so good! Penelope is a sarcastic deserted wife who doesn't believe a word of why Odysseus says he's delayed, he's just sleeping around with all those demigods or has made them up.

Abhannmor · 29/07/2025 08:28

Phil Moorehouse is another anti Brexit TRA. It's beginning to put me off his YouTube A Different Bias. He's very much a Blair/ Starmer type , so totally anti Corbyn of course. But Jeremy is also tra . In a sort of ' I'm an older white male heterosexual and therefore not allowed any opinion on this issue. So I'll just nod along with Stonewall'

Moorehouse is a middle aged white male heterosexual who can't seem to understand the independence of the Judiciary. He thinks its part of some rightward drift to chase Reform voters. Or the baleful influence of US Evangelicals. Anything but the obvious explanation....
