And you'll never guess the background and "identity" of the perpetrator.

From the Evening Standard's coverage.

Headline: Royal Opera House chaos as privately-educated 'queer dance artist' unfurls Palestinian flag on stage

"A privately-educated performer who describes himself as a “queer dance artist” sparked controversy at the Royal Opera House after unfurling a Palestinian flag on stage during the curtain call on Saturday night.

Daniel Perry unfurled the flag during the curtain call on the closing night of Adele Thomas’ production of Verdi’s Il Trovatore."

The story goes on to highlight that
Perry "was educated at £48,000-a-year Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in Hertfordshire".

Colour me anything but surprised.

You say you're unsurprised. Have there been others from Tring Park who have caused issues, then? I'm quite surprised by that.

It was more coming from a family that could afford the eye-watering fees.

£48,000. A year.

Help me to understand what the issue is and how it relates to this board, I’m struggling to get your point.

NormalAuntFanny · 21/07/2025 13:56

So OP how much or little does your education cost before you are allowed to make a protest?

Chersfrozenface · 21/07/2025 14:09

Oh, you can make a protest with any educational background.

But you must be prepared to be described as an over-indulged, over-privileged walking cliche espousing all the ideologies currently fashionable in your set.

NormalAuntFanny · 21/07/2025 14:29

So unless you're poor then, your protest is self indulgence?

And you came to this view by reading the KGBs evening paper?

I don't even agree with the protest but what you seem to be saying makes even less sense.

Ddakji · 21/07/2025 14:34

It’s in the Times and Telegraph as well, for those objecting to the Evening Standard.

It’s relevant to this board because we often see the omnicause from over-privileged queer pronoun people.

NormalAuntFanny · 21/07/2025 14:39

Personally I think the protest was stupid but this 'attack the messenger' routine, which is a very well established tactic especially from the right, is also stupid and wrong and people should be alive to how easy we are to manipulate because it's easy to hate a posh pronouns wanker and so not think about an issue ourselves.

Plasticwaste · 21/07/2025 14:45

Lol at the PP. Do you all spend 50k on school fees to warrant the defensiveness?

It's highly relevant because it's the people in this wealth bracket embracing every stupid social cause to offset their guilt at not being fashionably oppressed, then pushing their champagne socialist propaganda onto the rest of us commoners. Trickle-down dumbness.

You'd reckon 50k a year would produce alumni with a lick of sense, but there we go.

Chersfrozenface · 21/07/2025 14:50

If "especially from the right", is knocking me, I have never even voted Conservative, never mind any party further right, in my life.

For almost five decades I was a loyal Guardian reader, until that outlet decided that every group going was more important than women, and hounded out female writers who did centre women and their rights.

And emphasising the shallowness of people who espouse queer ideology when they invite attention with their actions and social media pronouncements is perfectly fair.

Anyway, the idea that the left doesn't engage in ad hominem is a bit rich.
