That's the headline I would have wanted the BBC to use to emphasise there's nothing women can't do when we put our mind to it.

I loved the final few lines:

Anna also praised the organisers, Rat Race Adventures, for creating female-specific provisions at each of the stopping point. She said she hoped her race could help prove that women can "close the gap" when it comes to endurance sport.

"I'm 43, I'm perimenopausal, I'm on HRT, that massively affects your hormones and that has a massive impact," she said. "I got my period on Friday and I was very aware that I was wearing light-coloured leggings, but at every checkpoint, they had female-specific toilets with sanitary products.

"I think it just shows women do these things too. Women are not just little men. They have their own specific needs, but they were being catered to and I really loved that."

Anna Rutherford looking right at the camera and smiling. She is holding a large gold medal in front of her body. She has fair hair and is wearing a blue hooded top. She is standing in a garden surrounded by green plants and grass.

Anna Rutherford finished so far ahead in the Bamburgh to Edinburgh race that she was home by the time her rivals crossed the finish line.

I made a thread yesterday but your title is much clearer.

And those last three paragraphs - ha, she’s got such an important statement onto the bbc website, I just wish it had a bit more prominence. Quite pointed, I thought, in the light of ongoing events in Fife!

Yes - I noticed this as well and in another article today:

"Dr Joseph says understanding different cultural barriers - such as Muslim women who prefer to be treated by another women for modesty - is vital, otherwise it could result in people being turned away from accessing healthcare"

Brilliant. Women are such strong ultrarunners - we were made to go the distance! 💪
