Building International Terf Sisterhood

WDI invite you to a women only, hybrid international conference near Euston and Kings Cross, London, UK. The spread of gender identity politics has been swift and wide reaching. Women’s Declaration International has been working for seven years to defend women’s sex based rights against this politics and has a declaration signed by 542 organizations and over 39,000 individuals from 160 countries. This conference will help us share information about how to defend women's rights. The conference theme will be Building International Terf Sisterhood but as always we will be focussing on all the issues raised in the Declaration. If you can’t attend in person you can join us online.

Confirmed speakers so far:

  • Sheila Jeffreys - Beyond the Supreme Court
  • Linda Rosewood
  • Emma Thomas
  • Julia Long
  • Protect and Teach, Jennifer Gourley
  • Kate Barker, CEO LGB Alliance
  • Jo Brew
  • Lauren Levey - Why Are Lesbians Hated?” It describes patriarchy’s need to make lesbians invisible, among its other defences against the threats posed by lesbians
  • Amparo Domingo
  • Benadette O Malley, WDI UK, End Sex Falsification, Restore Safeguarding
  • Maureen O Hara, WDI UK, End Sex Falsification, Restore Safeguarding
  • Including Radical Feminist Perspectives “The Male in the Head” by Holland et al, discussed by Sheila Jeffreys and Julia Long
Online
  • Kara Dansky
  • Lorraine Nowlin

Workshops so far. "Undoing Gender" will give practical ways we can dismantle gender in our own lives - nail varnish remover included.
We aim to give space to every female who supports the Declaration on Women's Sex-based Rights to share and develop ideas and plans, so get in touch and get on the programme.

Are you going?

Is that a question to me?

Highly unlikely I could go for 2 days as in fact it is quite soon.

But was hoping there would be more info so that I could watch online, ie clear time. (I wonder if it will be available online aftwards?)

Haven't really looked at programme, but was impressed by the number of speakers.

(I added the link to the Declaration as thought there may be some on FWR who haven't heard of it.)

Yes, was asking if you are going!

If you open your first link you'll see an option to buy online tickets.

Marketing for the conference started in March IIRC, via mailing list and social media.

In fact I only saw it via a shared post on FB in the past week.

I thought i had signed up for info, but either I didn't or there was a glitch.

But I posted here as there have been posts in the past from those on FWR of never having the opportunity to meet up with other feminists who support sex based rights.

But I suppose its a bit short notice, but thought there might be more interest, which is why I added the link to the Declaration itself.

It is strange, a few years ago there was such a buzz around every event with lots of us travelling halfway (and more) across the country to attend stuff.

I am wondering if this is a bit too "hardline" for FWR as it is now.

I think there has been quite a change recently, with it seems many joining as a single issue interest, not as part of a wider feminist analysis.

I wonder how in terms of numbers whether a more mainstream event like FiLia has more support.

WDI is a very different vibe to FiLiA, for sure!

ParmaVioletTea · 18/07/2025 22:44

Jo Brew and WDI do sterling work. I spoke at one, but can't make this one. It's not as big as FiLIA, but it's a really interesting couple of days. I really recommend WDI and all the work they do in keeping feminists in touch with each other across the world. It's a real grass roots organisation.

The size comparison, was more in terms of interest on FWR rather than conference size.

Although on looking at it more closely I can see that for those coming from outside London if could end up being quite expesive, travel etc..

Not a criticism of WDI but a reflection that in today's economic situation a 2 day ticket, travel costs, etc. would be out of reach for some.

Sadly.

I was hoping for a programme so that I can work out which day would be better to sign up for.

Will check link again closed to event.

Poor Actual Gender Critical Left.

They've been lecturing us for years (even invited to do so by FiLia) so you can imagine how upset they are that they are still being ignored!

WDI are continuing to promote & platform Posie Parker/Kellie Jay Keen & her Party of Women, notwithstanding the fact that two of her candidates attended one of Tommy Robinson’s rallies (grounds for expulsion from the Tory Party!) & the POW’s ‘Matriquest Commitments’ include a section linking immigration to the safety of women & girls.

There is, of course, a direct relationship between her politics now & those much earlier days when WPUK was widely condemned for disinviting KJK from a panel. I appreciate that she was a little subtler in those days but nobody could seriously claim ignorance of what she stands for now.

KJK’s x account regularly reposts racist accounts, endorses far right, anti migrant activism & makes excuses for violence. In response to last summer’s racist riots, which included setting fire to a hotel housing migrants, she stated ‘I would burn a whole town’.

Yet here she is on a panel at WDI International's July 25 London conference, discussing UK political parties position on sex based rights since the Supreme Court Decision. As if she is still a valuable voice. How is this even possible?

"Poor Actual Gender Critical Left"

Grin

They're as tedious as ever.

2Rebecca · 27/07/2025 21:21

I enjoyed the Sunday and Saturday afternoon

EmpressaurusKitty · 27/07/2025 21:27

I went today, & really enjoyed it. The standouts for me were Elizabeth from WDI USA, whose speech about detransitioners & desisters should be required listening for pretty much everyone, and Sally Wainwright on the lesbian intervention in the Supreme Court ruling.

DrSpartacularsMagnificentOctopus · 27/07/2025 22:20

It was really good, and such fun to be there.

IwantToRetire · 27/07/2025 22:29

Thanks for info.

Due to irritating circumstances that meant I couldn't even set aside one day to watch online, I am very much hoping they will post if not the whole event some extracts.

Really good to know grass roots radical feminism still thrives!

DrSpartacularsMagnificentOctopus · 27/07/2025 22:40

It was being recorded as well as broadcast so hopefully it will be uploaded soon.

We heard from 2 young women from S Korea and China about their experiences as radical feminists and the 4b movement, and their difficulties and successes, which was a highlight for me.

There will be another event next year, so keep an eye out for emails!

Ramblingnamechanger · 28/07/2025 00:18

It was a great event, with a lot of interesting speakers. Julia Long on how we need to put the man into discussions about who does what to whom, Lorraine about prioritising women’s needs as a sex class before race and class. Kelly Jay was there and spoke well. Plenty of other workshops and sessions for those there in person. Lots of humour too.

Kellie Jay spoke at last years WDI conference and she’s actually quite balanced and reasonable in a balanced and reasonable discussion in a women’s only space.

I don’t think she’s a programmatic or systematic feminist, but in a broad grass roots movement it takes all types. Lots of different perspectives and view points. But all aiming at liberation for women from male oppression, violence, and exploitation.

We really can’t expect 51% of the population all to have the same views or be in agreement about everything!

And I remember back in the late 70s going to Women’s Liberation conferences there were huge ideological battles and debates within the movement. Twas ever thus.
