Gender Critical Police Officer Loses Tribunal

A judgement was handed down in the Newman v Metropolitan Police case today.

Newman, a serving Met Police officer with gender-critical beliefs, submitted a complaint after a Met TDOV event that featured Eva Echo that Newman attended online, at home, and off-duty.

Newman argued it (and in particular, the response of the audience to discussion of Posie Parker) was indicative of hostility in the workplace towards her gender-critical beliefs.

She submitted claims under direct discrimination because of protected belief and harassment related to protected belief.

The court rejected those claims.

I've not read all of that - but I find it concerning about some of the evidence not being heard due to someone unmuting themselves. I bet it was a TRA, and I expect that kind of bollocks when SP's case resumes.

Sarah Philimore has written a good piece on this

@Theeyeballsinthesky Thanks for the link saved me the effort of figuring the judgement out piece by piece.

which i may well have failed at.

i was unsure she would win anyway.

but the case put a massive light on the Mets antics.

I accept the judgement that what the speakers said was just about acceptable but the problem seems to be that the Met is only organising events that put one side of the argument. How about a Gender Critical Day of Visibility where Kellie-Jay Keen can slag off whoever she likes?

Oh wow! That would be something to see! I bet some if not all of those in attendance would enjoy it a lot more too! 😂

The Tribunal is not really there to answer the real question, which would be "why is the Met even inviting drag queens to a trans day of visibility when drag queens are visible everywhere from the local library to the BBC?"
