Finding a non-gender woo therapist for anxious teen?

DD has asked for some external help with her feelings of anxiety. I’m more than happy to find someone for her to talk to, but for various reasons I’m wary of her seeing someone that might lead her down a gender rabbit hole. She hasn’t mentioned gender being an issue in her feelings but it’s certainly there in the background in her friendship group so I’m alert to it. But how would I go about finding someone that won’t leap to that route? Maybe I’m thinking the worst and in a post-Cass world it’s less of an issue but thought I’d ask the experts.

Maybe contact Bayswater to ask if they either have a list available or at least a list of questions to ask?

I asked the counsellor for my teen about different scenarios and whether they would affirm or explore without affirming if the topic came up.

im sorry I can’t remember the website but I remember a thread here sharing it - it had actually been posted by TRAs somewhere but was an extremely comprehensive and long list of therapists who do not buy into this bs.

one was Ben someone who I follow on Twitter; I’ll try to find it

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago - in the end, I asked the therapist during our initial chat. Like you, I had no particular reason to think it was an issue but I didn't want any lens or ideology applied to my child in a vulnerable setting.

She was very sensible and reassuring. Worth a screening chat IME.

Thanks all - I’ve contacted a local CBT therapist - thinking that a more solutions-focused therapy is unlikely to go down the identity path.
