So prostate cancer UK has started talking about "women with trans history" in their prostate cancer information 🤨

I can’t access the article because it’s paywalled.

Youd think that campaigning effort would be focused on the highest risk individuals would you not?

So, black men who have a much increased risk of PC. Full SRS, hormone-taking transwomen have a five fold lower risk of PC than natal men who have never taken cross sex hormones.

It’s an odd group to spotlight given epidemiological risk, which means most diagnoses will be in white natal males who have never taken oestrogen or had genital surgery.

While dangerous TRAs suggest transwomen wont get prostate cancer then this probably neeeded

Gattopardo · 12/06/2025 23:07

I dont imagine there are many transwomen who are really of the opinion they are immune to prostate cancer or enlargement @BackToLurk

Prostate issues are hard to ignore for anyone because they get you out of bed multiple times a night. And also have you running for the loo in the day at inconvenient moments.

Bit like women when pregnant. #sexequality 😁

You may be underestimating the levels of delusion out there.

Quite.

Any cohort which believes men can grow a cervix might easily believe that the prostate has shrunk and then totally disappeared "following various procedures and hormone treatment and all the rest of it".

And that having to get out of bed multiple times a night and run for the loo in the day at inconvenient moments constitute "women's problems" and neatly prove that they are actually women.

"Women with trans history" is really confusing. It could equally apply to transmen, non-binary females or female detransitioners - none of whom need information from a prostate charity.

Fenlandia · 13/06/2025 10:52

Also depressing that another medical charity is using the language of 'intersex'

"A Prostate Cancer UK spokesman said: “We’re here to stop people dying from prostate cancer, and to support all those affected by it. That includes men, trans women, non-binary and intersex people, and their family and friends."

So men should get prostate cancer because women have to deal with child birth?
Sounds fair.....

Who said that??

JellySaurus · 13/06/2025 16:58

Stephen Whittle and Buck Angel are "women with trans history". Should they get prostate checks?

Garbage in, garbage out. Language matters.

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 13/06/2025 17:31

Women with a trans history makes no bloody sense

absolutely everyone , including me, would think it meant a woman identifying as a man

(obviously the prostate bit should be a clue but honestly I really worry about some peoples comprehension abilities)

Boiledbeetle · 13/06/2025 19:44

I don't have an issue with a prostate charity including all men in their blurb, but as a prostate is only something a man has leading with stories from 'women with a trans history' is just bloody weird! It's gobbledygook for starters and It is unnecessarily confusing and that's the last thing you need when it comes to cancer.

A leading prostate cancer charity has been promoting the stories of “women with a trans history” above men on its website.

Prostate Cancer UK has a webpage dedicated to the “real-life stories” of men who have undergone prostate treatment.

But the first stories that readers see underneath a sub-heading of “here, men share their experiences” are those of Suzanna and Alice.

The trans women make up two of the 20 stories published by the charity, which has been accused of causing confusion among men seeking advice and guidance, despite one of them never being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Campaigners said Prostate Cancer UK risked “harming its target audience” with the “unclear activist language”.

What the F is wrong with saying "Biological Males"?

That message would be too real and simple though and might hurty the feelys. God I'm sick of all the delusion.
