Is a video clip of JK Rowling exploding, posted on twitter a threat of violence?

If a TRA has posted a video of JK Rowling exploding, can that be classed as a threat of violence? I can't post it here as don't wish to share vile images of a woman turning to dust. Is this legal though? Bearing in mind Lucy Connolly went to prison for a tweet I think this particular tweet is on very shaky ground. Joss Prior has posted it on X and it's no doubt being shared widely. It's the great picture go her smoking a cigar on her yacht edited to look as though she explodes.

I doubt it - probably counts as satire...

Let's remember that many of the responses to tweets and social media are way over the top - there is a lot you can do online - we technically still have free speech as a concept, though it becomes more doubtful by the day...

Just been on X to have a look. It’s an animation of the cigar-on-a-yacht pic of JKR dissolving to background singing of fuck you. Agree it would probably be satire and I don’t read is as a threat (that said don’t know anything about Mr Prior so happy to take this back if he has form).

One of his tweets, while I was searching for the offending one, was about a publication called Wizarding World which is apparently saving the HP universe from that dreadful JKR. 🤦‍♀️ I can see where she got the inspiration for some of her characters and activities in Strike now.

I think it's nasty and borderline abusive, but unless it's calling for it to happen or threatening they will actually make her explode, then I'd not describe it as an actual threat.
Lucy Connelly's tweet was a very different thing. She was literally calling for hotels to be set on fire in the middle of ongoing riots.

However, if a mean, nasty terf had posted the same of Mr Willoughby or Juno whatsisname, say, then absolutely it would an act of actual, literal violence worthy of death threats to the author and calls to arms in order to defend the most vulnerable men in the history of vulnerable men evaaaa.

I haven't seen it, but unless it shows JKR literally as in literally exploding in a gory way, I'd chalk it down as nasty but meh, not an incitement to violence.

I'm sure thousands of TRAs would love JKR to magically dematerialise because she's GC and rich and brilliant

I agree with IllustratedDictionaryOfTheDoldrums that it's not in the same league as tweeting encouragement to burn down buildings with people in them. That's literally literal incitement to murderous violence.

If a woman posted a similar image of a transwoman the TRAs would be reporting her to the police, the police would undoubtedly be visiting at 2am and JOB and Jeremy Vine (engaging the special patronising voices they use for this topic) would be hand-wringing and asking the must vulnerable and marginalised people to call in to talk about the nasty women folk who are committing literal genocide

Last week she encouraged photographing people in toilets. A criminal act. Inciting people to commit a criminal act. That’s what Lucy Connelly did. That’s comparable.

Nothing gives me more satisfaction than knowing JKR has upset people like you. She's really got under your skin, hasn't she? And there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Setting fire to asylum seekers really isn't the same as taking a photograph.

When the police do bother investigating criminal or antisocial behaviour they often actually ask the public for photos or footage they have taken with their smartphones or dashcams or doorbell cameras.

TRAs are such gentle souls who are forced against their wills to send their sexually violent fantasies to JKR, (badly) paint hanging threats on bits of cardboard at ‘peaceful’ protests and tell women who refuse to wheest that they need to die in a grease fire. Why can’t the world just make all the nasty smug women who won’t toe the line shut up and go away so that the most marginalised people in the history of all the planets can do what they want whenever they want.

I don't think anyone should be threatening to drag anyone, no. I also don't think men should be in women's toilets. This is a men's problem. You lot can sort it out between you. We're not your collective mother, here to adjudicate when boys squabble.
Stay out of women's spaces, sort out your own issues. Women aren't here to do that for you.

Also what is Graham Linehan doing in women's toilets? So it's not ok for trans women to use the women's toilets to pee in peace then leave but it's ok for men like Graham to go in looking at all the women to judge who is trans or not then proceed to become violent with them? Did I get that right?

No it is not ok for Linehan to go into the womens toilets. No, it is not ok to drag anyone by their boots out of the womens toilets. No, it is not ok for transwomen and men to be in the womens toilets even if they are wearing high heeled boots.

i wouldnt advocate for Graham to try and drag out Eddie. But if Eddie is already there Graham being there too just means there are at least two men in the space.

ok I'm glad we agree it isn't a good idea to install men in women's toilets to take the role of "anti-trans guards".

IIRC KJK also had a bonkers idea of putting men with guns in women's toilets to keep out women they thought might be trans.
