Incensed that again mens opinions/ experiences prioritised over women’s . On Friday we had to hear from one of the BBC correspondents about the awful sexual assault cases in France by the surgeon. He knew less about it than probably any women on here. There was a wonderful feminist activist, Blondine , who had very powerful ideas and politics, but the man’s opinion was sought and he got the last word by saying nothing of interest. Why? There was a scientist expert on later who knew his subject which was fine. But there was another man too and I can’t remember why he was on at all.
the programme does seem to be veering towards men’s hour, for sure.

Is anyone keeping a tally on how many men they have on?

It’s certainly seemed higher than it used to be.

The BBC will probably say it isn't fair on men to have women on "Woman's Hour"!

I think occasionally I don’t mind if he is a real specialist/ expert. But to invite those who really have nothing to contribute when there are good political women’s voices out there , is very insulting

For years the BBC have made it clear that the most important people to talk about women's issues is men. Especially on Woman's Hour. At this point it's deliberate trollling of women.

The licence fee should have been ripped out years ago.

And today we had a man pontificating on women’s breasts in sports bras, creepy and a in an item about pregnancy women and retaining teachers a teacher came on and talked about men women and other versions. Of course Anita just ignored this nonsense with no clarifying questions.

Oh, Anita. My DF would describe her as a puddle - very shallow and very wet. My DFiL would say that she is so wet that you could shoot snipe off her. DFiL is quite posh though.

I was thinking the exact same thing as I yelled at the car radio and turned it off (again). “We wanted to do a piece about something about women for WH. So here’s a man to tell us all about it.” Over and bloody over again. And when it’s about the kind of vital issue of women having the right to their own safe spaces and sports, they don’t just ask a man, they specially ask a man who wants into women’s spaces or sports and doesn’t care about women at all, because he’s a “woman” - according to him and he knows best right? (At least bra bloke vaguely seemed to be aiming to do something useful but fgs if the only person you can find to talk to is a man, just leave it and cover something else until your research skills improve.)

Don’t Anita, Nuala etc get tired of sucking up to men and putting women’s feelings last? Don’t they ever wonder if maybe that’s not feminism?

I wonder if we could have an actual feminist show for women as well. Just leave WH to get on with celebrating and centring men and have “Actual woman’s hour” somewhere else in the schedule.
