So Max is a woman who wants to be a bloke. I don't care. I wish her well but how does such a 'tiny number of people ' end up on Every Single Fucking Programme on BBC. It's lying to kids.

Just Fuck Off.

Once you see it you can't un-see it.

I'm interested to know how many disabled people have featured on these shows, given that they are a larger minority?

Grand Designs NZ recently featured a family with two sons, only I immediately clocked that one was female (with male pattern baldness aged early 20s). Not even halfway through the programme it went off on a tangent onto her transgender "journey". I must have missed how this was relevant to the design and construction of the ridiculous house.

Gardeners' World has been good at having presenters with disabilities in recent years. I think each has had a chance to explain how they've adapted their garden layout/tools for their needs (interesting), but mostly they're just on to interview the galanthus enthusiasts/be polite about the upside-down dead seagull themed garden that's just won a gold medal.

DEI box ticking.

Happily the SpringWatch badgers are definitely sex realists. 🦡🦡

Ouch! Sounds like one to watch with gritted teeth. How true about disabled people.

Off topic - Thanks for alerting me to the new episodes of Grand Designs NZ, they are always a good watch. ( Not on Channel 4 yet, I don't think, but available on South Hemi TV )

Well now @GourmetLettuceMix, I do indeed think you've missed a few things.

There's lstuff doing the rounds (is there a thread here about it?) on the important matter of queering architecture. I won't attempt to summarise as it's bonkers, but some architectural bod doesn't get why buildings are so heteronormative. Or something. So Mr McCloud et al are merely showing us they've educated themselves on this matter.

On a sensible note, it would be good to see far more designs that allow for life events, even having a family, and also housing for people with disabilities so we don't have to move house when we have babies or develop challenging health needs. Or even simply get old.

@Beowulfa - I really like Sue and her bit from Chelsea on adaptations in the garden for those with disabilities was useful for those like me who have limited mobility. I'd actually like this to be a regular feature on Gardeners World although unlikely as young "queer" gardeners obviously much more interesting 🤔
