So for the 2nd time within a week a bunch of angry TRAs have moved and attacked a bunch of Christian protesters (don't know much about this group) for preaching about gods love and anti trans stuff (not sure about the last part it's what the tras claim) 1st because of where the local government let them hold their 1st rally and then the 2nd time because they were protesting against the seattle mayor for calling the Christian group far right, and using that claim to blame them for being attacked by TRAs.
I've linked the telegraph article about the most recent attack it's a gift token will try and find the article about the 1st attack

I mean, I'm not surprised TRAs are notoriously intolerant of views other than their own.

The problem I have with the US discourse is that the anti trans narrative seems to be dominated by religion, which I have no truck with personally. I appreciate that isn't the whole story, but it makes it far less easy for me to celebrate what I would consider wins if they happened here because they seem so often to come from a place of religious bigotry.

In the UK, the anti-TRA pushback has been rooted in women's rights activism.

I agree @Raquelos I'm an atheist so find it particularly galling to find myself backing any religious group let alone being pleased that them preaching regressive doctrine has brought the antifa and other TRAs to the attention of the FB,I but religious freedom is a huge thing in the USA and this is the 1st step in getting the extremist TRAs recognised for the terrorists they are. Let's just say I'm conflicted about this

What terrorism are trans rights activists all doing? Are they bombing buildings, or shootings, or other things?

‘Terrorism, in a broad sense, involves the use of violence or the threat of violence for political, religious, or ideological purposes to instill fear and intimidate the public. Specifically, the UK's Terrorism Act 2000 defines terrorism as actions designed to influence the government or an international organisation, or to intimidate the public, for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial, or ideological cause’

TRA’s tactics…

From the government Prevent strategy...

Spot the signs of radicalisation
Radicalisation can happen both in person or online.
Everyone is different, and there is no checklist that can tell us if someone is being radicalised or becoming involved in terrorism. But these signs may mean someone is being radicalised:

  • accessing extremist content online or downloading propaganda material
  • justifying the use of violence to solve societal issues
  • altering their style of dress or appearance to accord with an extremist group
  • being unwilling to engage with people who they see as different
  • using certain symbols associated with terrorist organisations
TheOtherRaven · 30/05/2025 18:36

This movement has internationally been trying to fix in everyone's minds for years that saying things they dislike is the equivalent of actual physical violence, and so not only wholly excuses it but is a justifiable response. And this has been permitted and indulged by the police themselves.

It won't work in a court room, but society needs to wake up to the blunt fact that things like 'kerb stomping' and 'die in a grease fire' are not thoughts that tend to occur to a healthy and functional person.

Religious freedom is a huge thing in the UK - or used to be (government posters during WWII pointing out we were fighting for religious freedom). I deplore the arrest of people silently praying outside abortion clinics - this is certainly a matter of conscience.

Agree it's galling that religious groups are mainly anti-trans in the US (unlike the UK where the CofE embraces transism) but one sometimes ends up with strange bedfellows when campaigning.

Christinapple · 02/06/2025 13:31

Christian activists don't exactly have a good track record for being supportive of gay and trans people and rights.

Punching elderly ladies in the face in Australia.
Public threats of violence against women in the U.K. some made by a person convicted (amongst other things) of attempted murder.
Physical assaults on people holding signs including an attack on Fred Sergeant (one of the founders of the original pride march who was present at the Stonewall riot).

A group of people with the same aim to subvert laws attacking and threatening people in multiple countries.

Who can forget the Black Pampers who were practically dressed in combat gear, who refused to allow women near a suffragette statue? Or the time that LWS in London had TRAs with banners, one of which had a picture of a Little Tike car with a gun turret on it with the caption "Arms Trans Kids".

Yeah, I'd say that's fairly terroristy.
