Canadian researcher told to "add males" to a study looking at the effect of pregnancy on Alzheimer’s disease

It would be Canada wouldn’t it?

Canadian researcher Dr Liisa Galea told to "add males" to a study looking at the effect of pregnancy on Alzheimer’s disease for inclusion.

It’s a rule that requires sex and gender to be considered when funding medical research as criteria for awarding grants. Despite this mandate, less than 6% of research funding went to women’s health.

Caroline rightly wonders if researchers investigating prostrate issues are asked to include females in their trials…?

Women are not very interesting, are they. Women's health is a niche area of study despite the fact that women and girls comprise half the entire population.

Studying men however, what could be more fascinating and more right? Let's face it, women are secondary persons, made expressly for the purpose of serving men anyway, so women scientists who want to study women's health can get lost as far as funding goes. Of course if it is a man doing a study, that does make it more valuable, but still, studying women? Why?

How?
🤦🏻‍♀️

Slightly OT but am I right in thinking that Caroline CP has been very quiet about the trans debate? Surely she gets the issues if she's writing about males being included in data on the effects of pregnancy?

Igmum · 26/05/2025 18:04

I agree Really. I assume she’s a quiet Terf who doesn’t want to be publicly lynched and keeps to her own furrow. In fairness I would hope that anyone who agreed with what she writes would be lured over pretty much entirely to Terf sanity.

And yes to the FFS it’s always Canada 🤦‍♀️

DrBlackbird · 26/05/2025 18:12

Agree that she’s remained very quiet but how can she, of all people, not appreciate the reality of our sexed bodies? I’m hoping that her position is more of one keeping quiet rather than someone beingkind. It is very high risk to be an openly sex realist academic.

I think she just stays in her lane.

The research she does clearly demonstrates that sex matters,

She doesn’t need to say anything more.

NPET · 26/05/2025 18:55

Is Dr. Liisa a woman? If so, how dare she do research without a man guiding her? How does she expect to deal with pregnancy as a mere woman?

This.

She makes the point, without making the point.

If that makes sense.

In some ways that makes what she says more powerful and difficult to argue with.

NotYourCisterinAus · 27/05/2025 16:08

I have a suspicion that she might have some problems finding pregnant males to add to her study.
