Not sure what they think they'll achieve

This might be my third FFS if the day 🤦‍♀️. Deluded, self-obsessed and entitled.

cocoaero · 26/05/2025 18:48

At the Govan protest one holds a sign that says "trans lives are more important than cis feelings". Truly laughable! Real women's rights, safety and dignity matters more than some deluded man's feelings. Sorry boys but the jig is up, you can't get your jollies from uncommenting women and entering our spaces anymore.

Men prepared to go to such lengths to demand access to women's spaces are deeply suspect and should probably all have their hard drives checked.

thedancingclown · 26/05/2025 18:57

in the 1990's it used to be protests for the animal liberation front (ALF), freedom for animals and stop animal testing. I was supportive of some of them.

Then it was peace protests (Gulf war) and the habitat protests when people spent days in trees.

quite depressing what kids are fighting for these days. even the 'just stop oil movement' has more authenticity than this.

What they mean is 'trans feelings matter more than womens safety'.

SirChenjins · 26/05/2025 19:43

It all looks a bit cringey and awkward, doesn’t it - a small group of people waving placards, shouting something vague about ‘trans rights’ without quite understanding what rights they are asking for, while the few who found themselves on the balcony are now realising that being in police custody isn’t quite the thrill they thought it would be, they’ve now got a police record which doesn’t look great on their CV, and they didn’t bring Glasgow to a standstill. Instead of looking on in awe at the stunning and brave rainbow warriors, people just tutted and rolled their eyes.

Maybe the 28yo identifies as a child, did you not think of that?

Doesn't seem to have been very well attended.

Unfortunately the Scottish branch of TKDB forgot the golden rules of doing this shit without consequences.

Be a tiny female

Be under 18

Be a middle-class Londoner

Have one or more parents who are well-connected/notoriously litigious barristers/legal academics at a London university

TangenitalContrivences · 26/05/2025 19:53

I do hope they got searched.

RedToothBrush · 26/05/2025 20:04

Safeguarding women and children equals segregation does it?

That's not really the look they think it is.

dementedpixie · 26/05/2025 20:31

Ended up with 6 arrests
Several arrests have been made following a protest in Glasgow city centre. Six individuals were arrested, including two 32-year-olds, an 18-year-old, and three 17-year-olds. All will be the subject of reports submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.Additionally, a 25-year-old has been remanded in custody, after being arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault and is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.A report will also be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

I saw that, I had to read it a couple more times, because I didn't believe it. They actually arrested the nutters for a change and in Scotland of all places. 😮😁

ArabellaScott · 26/05/2025 21:05

Crikey!

fromorbit · 26/05/2025 21:16

There is video. They were actually struggling with police and then tried to prevent a police van, which contained a protester, from leaving the street.

Not surprised they got arrested after that.

WaterThyme · 26/05/2025 22:17

Their banner says “END SEGREGATION”.

I don’t think that’s what TRAs want. That would mean no single sex facilities at all. Then where would they get their validation?

Rightsraptor · 26/05/2025 22:27

Was this in Govan @cocoaero, as you mention it? I gave never been there but I recall Rab C Nesbitt lived there and I got the impression it was somewhat ... gritty? Not at all the sort of place to happily entertain any trans nonsense.

Or has it been colonised by the middle classes?

I agree. They want sex segregation, just not sex segregation applied to them.

They don't want to end segregation at all.

They want segregation to be by gender rather than sex.

Helleofabore · 27/05/2025 04:44

Why are protest organisers allowing, if not encouraging, teenagers to climb the outside of buildings to place banners?

Either the protests are poorly organised or the organisers are negligent. And of course, both could be and likely is true.

Datun · 27/05/2025 07:17

I hope the authorities are watching this very closely. Whipping children up into a frenzy of fear to the point where they're climbing buildings, endangering their lives and getting criminal records is something that needs addressing.

It's not just about the issues of the equality act and single sex spaces. It's about the wholesale indoctrination of a generation of children.

Two 32-year-olds and a 25-year-old are among the people arrested. Their part in this needs investigating.

Children and teenagers are being used, yet again, by adult men.

FlippinFumin · 27/05/2025 07:41

Rightsraptor · 26/05/2025 14:38

I was wondering about the shouting of 'let them/us go' - did the cops have one or more of the little angels in the back of the van?

I know you cant always tell (sarcasm) but when the police arrested the hulking great six foot individual, the kids were shouting 'let her go'.

TangenitalContrivences · 27/05/2025 07:48

Just look at the video - entitled fools. https://x.com/ScotNational/status/1926964362972893229
quite how the one who spat on police didn’t get violently arrested I don’t know.

What sort of assault would that be classed as under Scottish law?

Maybe common assault? Spitting at somebody is an offence in Scotland people have been jailed..

GlomOfNit · 27/05/2025 08:40

ArabellaScott · 26/05/2025 14:06

Looks like there has been some confrontation with police.

https://x.com/SophieMolly_OFF/status/1926973271943106602

Hmm. I see the very tall young person barging into a slight altercation between another protester and a cop, hitting the cop (possibly in the face, possibly with the little sign the very tall young person is carrying) and then inadvertently elbowing a fellow protester in the face. The very tall young person is then manhandled to the ground and pinned there. It might not look nice but basically the very tall young person attacked a cop! But yes SophieMolly, fascist pigs hurting our kids. That's right.

Yellowlab34 · 27/05/2025 09:40

The shock of the protestors at actually being physically moved when they ignored a police direction is palpable in the video. It's not supposed to happen that way.

I do believe in the right to protest, but you march/chant whatever, then you disperse. Especially something like this case - the Supreme Court made a decision they don't like, having a tantrum isn't going to change it.
