This was a really interesting episode. Tanya de Grunwald talks to Levi Pay about attending the Stonewall conference with Maya Forstater.

There was an interesting discussion about the quite dubious sounding careers advice that was given by someone from Trans in the City. And how lesbians of a certain age were largely absent. Also, quite shocking behaviour from one of the National Trust delegates, who refused to shake Maya Forstater's hand.

It's well with a listen:

I watched this earlier today - very interesting. Especially as I've never before heard of a conference with zero questions, discussion, debate or interaction. Plus no hand-outs, copies of slides, or any other material to take away. And yet it cost I think £200-£400 to attend.

Oh, and apparently there was no mention at all of the recent Supreme Court ruling...

Yes, it was bizarre. I like their discussion of how the conference could have been, if they had been a bit braver and more open.

Certainly a few years ago when I last went, there was a person sat at one side of the stage doing live tweets throughout the day, sharing photos on SM was the norm, and I’m pretty sure they had one of those conference app things TdG mentions where you could ask your questions, etc.

I’m taking the fact they didn’t discuss the SC ruling as a positive thing, in that they’re probably not as sure of themselves in terms of their ability to interpret the law as they were before their early madcap post-SC ruling tweets.

I wonder how things might have gone down differently had Maya not been in attendance - she may well have saved several thousand employees from all sorts of batshittery pushed out by HR officers returning to the office high on Stonewall conference vibes.

Apparently the chilling effect works in reverse!? Interesting

The National Trust wanting to be so inclusive they wouldn't shake a woman's hand at a conference. Gosh.

Thanks, I enjoyed that. The idea of people wearing badges to indicate whether or not they were able to talk to strangers at a conference made me laugh. Oh, the fragility! The stuff about racism was annoying though. Likening sex segregation to racial segregation makes my blood boil. Would've been fun to be a fly on the wall but not for £400.
