Mothers milk no longer exists ?

I've never posted in this topic before but think this is the right place. I was getting some breastmilk out of the freezer this morning and noticed that the storage bags I bought only 1 year ago have Mothers Milk written on, fyi the storage bags are that old the milk inside is not. However I just recently purchased the same storage bags, using the same company, same bags, and this has been removed? Is it just a new design? Or is it for all of the chest feeding "mothers/fathers?" out in the world? At this point I'm just happy it still has breastmilk written on, although assuming that will be changed to chest milk in the near future sigh. Am I being unreasonable to let this annoy me? I know its not the AIBU topic. It could very well be a coincidental design change, although I highly doubt that.

Hang on… is this the SIL who is disgusted by you breastfeeding and thinks you do it for attention??!!

No different SIL 😅 that made me laugh at the idea of it

I’m surprised you talked to her about it given she’s disgusted by you breastfeeding and thinks you do it just for attention!

They've changed a weird phrase to a more technically accurate/ better understood one- I think this is only a positive?

If you’ve studied Nazi Germany then you’ll know that “mother’s milk” was part of the campaign to increase the birth rate and idolise Nazi mothers

dontcomeatme · 20/05/2025 16:28

Just to add to the post, I think in my brain I was so used to seeing the term mothers milk on the storage bags and it made sense to me, we call everything else cows milk, goats milk etc, not teet milk or udder milk. So mothers milk was a perfectly fine and accurate descriptor haha.

Ah - so if a word was used by the Nazis, then anyone who uses it must be a Nazi ? 😂😂

Nothing wrong with words that relate to women, mothers, breast feeding or mothers milk - no matter how hard some men work to try to argue otherwise.

LostMySocks · 20/05/2025 17:03

At least it says breast milk not chest milk.....

NewGoldFox · 20/05/2025 17:04

Looks like updated clearly understandable packaging, maybe it helps when women need to store in work fridge?
I do agree though “mother’s milk” was sweet and I am sad to see these tweeisms fall by the way side.

Noshadelamp · 20/05/2025 17:08

But Mothers Milk is an accurate description of what's in the bag, there was no reason to lose it.
@dontcomeatme

Mother's Milk isn't necessarily an accurate description though, whereas breast milk is.

minnienono · 20/05/2025 17:10

There’s a herbal tea called mothers milk, been around a long time, perhaps copyright issues

NumberTheory · 20/05/2025 17:58

I think this is more likely just updating the wording to language that more women use and are comfortable with. I don’t thing the transmen or other TRAs who want terms like chest feeding instead of breastfeeding would be any happier with breastmilk than mother’s milk.

JellySaurus · 20/05/2025 18:03

I actually like the change.

Donated milk is breastmilk. It is still mother's milk, just not the mother of the baby who drinks it. Perhaps less painful for that mother?

And it's also nice and clear for nitwits people who rummage in the freezer and grab things without looking carefully!

My thoughts exactly.

Well using that logic it should be called human milk! Unless people are getting a pint of heifer milk for their breakfast!

Toseland · 20/05/2025 22:17

Is there a lot of odd posts this evening or is it me?
Surely the whole point of breastfeeding is the interaction between Mother and child. The milk composition adapts to the babies needs.
You shouldn't be able to buy breastmilk and store it! The commodification of women's bodies is disgusting.
