Article in the Times just now. It seems that the general public has more sense than politicians and public sector employers. Great quote by Maya

Maya Forstater, chief executive of Sex Matters, said: “This polling shows that many of the UK’s most prominent organisations, from the NHS to unions and large companies, are wildly adrift from public opinion, following years of paying large sums of money for their own trans indoctrination.

Half of Labour voters back Supreme Court ruling on biological sex

Only 28 per cent oppose the judgment on gender identity, suggesting that MPs who criticised it last month were out of step with their public

The law says that if toilets are female only they should not include males.

Is your take on it that the law applies to organisations and not to individuals?

We rely on a social contract for people to use the correct toilets and always have. I think we are speaking at cross purposes here. I agree the Supreme Court judgment rightly makes it clear that single sex spaces are based on biological sex. That wording isn’t in the law itself, it’s the Supreme Court ruling on it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/05/2025 12:09

What I mean is that there is nothing in law which legally prohibits any man from using the wrong space.

moto748e · 19/05/2025 12:10

But Nadia Whittome wasn't being pedantic or narrowly legalistic, was she? She was just being dumb, as usual.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/05/2025 12:12

I agree with that. She’s dim and easily misled by TRA propaganda.

She’s right though. There is nothing in law preventing any man using a women’s toilets. We just expect them to be decent and respect women.

voyeurism?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/05/2025 12:47

I think that would be more likely to apply to a communal shower/changing room set up

But that is now for all intents and purposes the law.

The real question is what sanctions there are for people who break it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/05/2025 13:16

I agree, there do need to be sanctions, the ball is in the EHRCs court for this. The enforcement function needs to be used.

Unfortunately comments don’t appear with Share Tokens, just the article itself. Could you possibly do a screenshot to show us what you mean?

I find that really bleak. And I think it demonstrates the corrosive effect of the degree of capture in schools, and especially in universtities.

Increasingly these days, I think that on universities, Pol Pot had a point! 😛 A whole generation of our brightest and best, the people who will be running the country in future years, believes this bollix!

Fair enough saying universities might not be the bastion of knowledge one might assume.
Suggesting a genocidal dictator who systematically murdered over a million people had a point is a bit different.
Would you use a little smiley face emoji to talk about the Holocaust?

Thanks, that’s great, we can see that the questions were unambiguous in terms of what a “transgender woman” was.

ScrollingLeaves · 21/05/2025 13:14

I see only 40% of Labour agreeing that digital records should be based on Sex ( biological).
