According to Prick News the "women"

"stood outside the Scottish parliament building with their shirts off and their arms painted red, which they said was a mark of solidarity with anti-fascist feminists across Europe. Each protester held a white rose to represent the “death of transgender rights in the UK”, and wore tape across their mouths to symbolise the “censorship of trans voices” in the court ruling."

Why red arms represent solidarity with "anti-fascist feminists" (whatever THEY are) is not explained.

I'm reminded of the scene in Pratchett's Pyramids where Teppic is handed increasingly more fanciful articles of office and expected not to drop them.

What else could these topless, red armed, flower bearing, tape wearing men have done to symbolise various causes? A fish supper in the armpit to represent transwomen fisherpeople? One shoe with a blue tongue to represent how shoes are transphobic? Perhaps a ear cuff made from cotton wool to show that the non anti fascist feminists need to obey no debate.

How do they keeping thinking up these batshit strategies presumably to try and win hearts and minds?

Do they seriously not realise every time they engage in this type of behaviour a TERF is born?

I don’t even know where to start with this, I mean at least he’s not naked but he really is going all in at trying to win the oppression Olympics 🥴

That is tragic and definitely NOT a mental illness.

SinnerBoy · 18/05/2025 09:00

Censorship of trans voices? God's Teeth! If this is what they're like when they're censored, I dread to think what they're like if they start talking.

Oh, hang on a mo...

Mmmnotsure · 18/05/2025 09:43

These men may well say that their painted arms are for anti-fascist red.

However, given the level of fetish found among men who want to be women, it's possible to read this quite another way.

TheOtherRaven · 18/05/2025 09:54

It would be quite entertaining for women to join the group and do the same, and watch the police have a nervous breakdown trying to work out how to arrest the women for indecent exposure causing public issues, but not the men.

And the men would fully want the women arrested but not be able to process or explain in any way why or what separates them from the women.

The general public would have no trouble whatsoever.

EsmeQuibbles · 18/05/2025 10:47

I think that they were attempting this look. Nul point lads.

Im not sure if this will load, but it's a picture of topless women with red arms protesting on IWD in France.
https://medyanews.net/femen-stages-high-profile-anti-fascist-protest-at-paris-womens-day-demonstration/

Around 100 activists marched topless in Paris with US, European or Russian flags painted on their chests, along with a swastika and the words “fascist epidemic” drawing attention to the increasing right-wing shift in many countries. The activists carried black smoke torches, and many painted their right arms red and drew Hitler moustaches on their faces. They chanted slogans such as “Fascist epidemic, feminist response” and “For a feminist Europe, not a fascist one”. They also staged a performance targeting prominent figures, with one activist shouting out “Heil Donald Trump, Heil Vladimir Putin, Heil Elon Musk”, with the others repeating the slogan and raising their right arms in the Nazi salute.
FEMEN is a feminist activist group founded in Ukraine in 2008 by Anna Hutsol, Oksana Shachko and Alexandra Shevchenko. The organisation moved its headquarters to Paris in 2013 after facing harassment and legal pressures in Ukraine. They are known for their provocative topless protests aimed at challenging patriarchy, gender inequality and various forms of oppression, including from religious institutions, political corruption and sex trafficking. Their slogan, “I came, I stripped, I won,” reflects their bold and confrontational approach.

You know that behind this there’s one bloke who just lives to get his moobs out in public. Actual scenes from the polycule:

‘Right! Sainsbury’s have stopped stocking extra hot Doritos. Topless protest!’

’Really Edina Sparkle Princess? You said a topless protest would stop the library from stocking Harry Potter novels and my nephew was able to borrow The Half Blood Prince last week’

’You can’t let the fascist state wear you down Susan. Tops off!’

One of these days someone is going to write a brilliant comedy about these men and their antics.

And no disabled woman would choose those shoes.A heel! and strappy! an accident waiting to happen

NeverOneBiscuit · 18/05/2025 11:10

@EsmeQuibbles Yes, that looks like what they’re trying to emulate.

Sadly for this little band of merry men all they have in common with those women is the arm. They wouldn’t be able to paint a flag over their chests (unless it was the world’s smallest one) as then they couldn’t display their ladeee boobs.

They’d also have to change the slogan ‘I came, I stripped, I won’ to ‘I came, I moobed, everyone laughed’

lcakethereforeIam · 18/05/2025 11:11

They forgot the pink pussy hats. Three arrows pointing down. Two flags (one red, one black). A cabbage and a cuddly toy, probably that shark one from IKEA. Maybe a basket to help them hold it all.

Edited

so.... they really didn't come up with anything original at all! They copied women's protest tactics to again attempt to wedge themselves into 'womanhood'.

I really do understand why they taped their mouths. Because it would ruin the entire thing for passersby to hear their male voices.

Justme56 · 18/05/2025 11:19

Maybe the WI could do a feature in their monthly magazine.

With strategically placed chelsea buns.

I thought the pink strip was very effective at showing their masculine bodies actually. Well done to The National video editor who did a great job at saying lots without saying a word.

A wee shopping trolley is a very useful thing when planning elaborate mult-layered protest events like this. I think they could have incorporated a lot more with better planning.

Or one of those wee roll-y baskets from Lidl? They could have had one each and had a different cuddly toy/weird as symbol in each one to hand out to disinterested passers by.

If they'd been really organised, they could have asked for a job lot of the sharks from IKEA to give out.

Organisation skills need a bit of work, lads. 2 out of 5. Props for the neat tape though.

Misspotterer · 18/05/2025 11:51

I hope they remembered to put sunscreen on their moobies, it really is hot up here at the moment. Burnt nips, ouch!

A cabbage? Do they have mastitis?

ArabellaScott · 18/05/2025 11:57

They probably could also use an explainer to say what the tape moustaches/red arms/white flowers/moobs/black trousers/IKEA sharks etc all represent. Perhaps an interpreter and some pamphlets. Sandwich board might mean that the wearer doesn't get to show his boobs off properly, but maybe one of the larger ones could pap them over the top if he's desperate to get them out.

They could also have done a running list, perhaps with the Toilet Duckface chap in the transparent dress with the bottles of pee as a warm-up act.

Chersfrozenface · 18/05/2025 12:06

Helleofabore · 18/05/2025 11:57

A cabbage? Do they have mastitis?

It's a reference to the children's TV programme Crackerjack.

One game in it was a quiz called Double or Drop, where each of three contestants was given a prize to hold for each question answered correctly, but given a cabbage if incorrect. They were out of the game if they dropped any of the items awarded or received a third cabbage.

I am old enough to remember some programmes from the original long-running series.
