Genuine Question:
Edit (Sorry, that makes me sound like one of our ingenuous ploppers)
The organisation I currently work for (open to public) appears to have a fairly common sense approach in that they have Male, Female and "Gender-Neutral/Accessible toilets.
The male toilets are immediately on the left but the female and GN/A ones are about 20 yards further on, also on the left.
Quite often clients will ask me where the toilets are and I will direct them to the appropriate one. Today I was dealing with a transwoman, now they thankfully did not ask to use the toilet but if they had, how do I phrase it?
"Over there on the left", with an airy wave of the hand?
Specific "Men's here, GN further on on the left"?
What I don't want to say is "Men's over there, ladies and GN further down on the left" as that implies their choice includes the female ones"
"Men's over there, GN further down the corridor" makes it obvious I don't think they're female and this is a public area and I don't want to be rude or "out" them. I also don't want to lose my job as I'm still on probation.
