The thing that offended me was this bit, after relating some near misses of potential assault:
What is relevant is that I had no parallel experiences in all the years before my transition. Meanwhile, every woman I have ever discussed them with has related back to me with similar – or worse – stories of their own. These are things that happen to women, transgender or not.
The author had the option of transitioning: most of us don’t have that choice. The other women mentioned (presumably) didn’t have the option of identifying out of their experiences. Just because the author has had some unpleasant experiences similar to other women, that doesn’t equate to being woman.
