Pedro Pascal’s dad knew what a woman was when he was stealing their eggs

Pedro’s dad is Jose Balmaceda.

“Back in the 1990s, Asch and another fertility doctor, Jose Balmaceda, were charged with stealing embryos and eggs belonging to dozens of women who sought treatment at the University of California-Irvine Center for Reproductive Health and implanting them into other women.”

He made millions of dollars and left women broken before he fled back to Chile.

I wonder if misogyny is inherited or learned?

Fertility Doctor on the Run Arrested in Mexico

After more than a decade on the run, fugitive fertility doctor Ricardo Asch was arrested in Mexico. Asch was allegedly involved in one of the biggest fertility scandals in history. He and other doctors were accused of stealing eggs and embryos from d...

Yowsers! That is grim.

I am so disappointed in Pedro Pascal. His brother dressing in women's clothes doesn't mean he has to buy into the fantasy and attack women's rights, family or not. Calling JKR heinous was just an unprovoked attack on a women who has worked tirelessly to protect us and our children. Did he really need to stoop so low? Surely he could just nod and agree to his brother, roll his eyes and continue on rather than go down the attacking women and their rights path? Protect the dolls indeed.

Another bloke I’ve never heard of, talking nonsense about things he doesn’t understand.

myplace · 25/04/2025 07:43

I knew that story. Didn’t know the Pedro connection. I’m disappointed. It really puts me off appreciating them as an actor.

ViolaPlains · 25/04/2025 07:46

Wow. I don’t believe things like that are unconnected.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 25/04/2025 07:49

Christ.

I saw on Facebook someone commented, "In a world of JK Rowlings, be a Pedro Pascal."

  1. There is only one JK Rowling.
  2. I had never heard of Pedro Pascal before this comment.
  3. Now I have heard of him, I'm not impressed. (With either him or his dad.)
BridasShieldWall · 25/04/2025 08:24

I disagree with Pedro Pascal in his post about JKR being heinous and I draw a lot of inferences from him wearing a ‘Protect the Dolls’ t-shirt but it’s illogical to blame him or draw a connection to his fathers actions unless anyone has anything that shows he actually supports what he did.

CorruptedCauldron · 25/04/2025 09:12

Good point @BridasShieldWall - Pedro cannot be judged by his father’s actions. He is not the same person. We have to give him the benefit of the doubt there - but I think his comments about JKR are disgusting. Pedro is showing that he doesn’t care about women’s sex-based rights. He prioritises the wants of male people who identify as women over the needs of female people who require sex-based rights for their safety, dignity and privacy. Instead of quietly holding these misogynistic views, Pedro publicly scolds a compassionate and dedicated campaigner for women’s rights, no doubt stirring up more hatred for her in the process.

I knew there’d be one. I think it says a lot about a family in which the father made the family money - which presumably funded Pascal in the years he spent as he tried to become an actor - by ruining women’s lives and where one male child thinks he’s the opposite sex and the other male child thinks he’s supporting him by publicly shitting on women and their rights. I’d say it’s fair to at least consider there might be a link between the three things.

He did a speech on Saturday night live about how brave and amazing both his parents were. He's close to his father. He completely glosses over his father's crimes in interviews and says they chose to move back to Chile.

So yeah, I think we can judge him.

BellatrixLeNormal · 25/04/2025 14:55

well he also believes humans can change sex so no surprises there!

Also an excellent point

He's innocent in the sense that it wasn't actually a crime at the time to steal women's eggs, create embryos with them, and implant them into other women (who think they're theirs).
The actual crimes charged were about their accounts and possible insurance fraud.

Same here. Never heard of him before this. Never want to hear about him in the future.

Tomatotater · 25/04/2025 15:53

What is this ' protect the dolls' business? It was on a sign too. So now men dressed as women actually want to be referred to as ' dolls'? Child's playthings?

murasaki · 25/04/2025 16:07

This was an intense read on the damage his dad did. Not the son's fault, granted, but it does make one think of the carefree attitude towards giving away rights has been passed down.

The word ‘presumably’ is doing a lot of lifting there. You’ll notice I included a caveat about anything that would support Pascal condoning what his father has done. Other posters have provided this which is fair enough and changes the situation.

Fair enough, I wasn’t aware he’d done that and yes I would judge him based on that.
