Another GC tribunal has started re a civil service SEEN

Just in case anyone is interested the tribunal by an anonymous claimant against Andreas Mueller started yesterday with a private session and TT will likely start tweeting this afternoon (still unknown). AM helped set up the Civil Service SEEN and is being taken to the ET re his GC comments. I believe the claimant also wants the SEEN to be shut down. Naomi Cunningham is representing AM - so should be interesting.

The fact that the EA have appointed the KC who acted against Alison Bailey and is currently acting for NHS Fife is… well, it makes it clear which side they’re on.

I am surprised that Defra, as their linked department, allowed it. Two sets of expensive representation rather than one seems hard to justify, using public money. And it makes it very clear that the EA and Defra are taking different positions on this.

The latest update is that the person who is suing him for his gender critical views has been given anonymity. The case has been merged with another because there is lots of overlap, but it means everything will take longer. There is obviously an effort to use the courts to disband SEEN and end the possibility of putting forward gender critical positions within the civil service. It's really important.

I really feel for these people.

Someone is suing SEEN, Elspeth for saying critical things, and Defra for allowing it. Defra are applying to strike out the claim.

The EA has decided not to apply for a strike out, and has employed the barrister who defended alison bailey's chambers and Fife nhs in the peggie case. What kind of arguments are they going to be making to defend themselves? We want to ban and punish gc's but unfortunately our hands are tied?

It's good that the cases have been merged, as I'm sure it will make it more obvious that this is a wider campaign.

Given that it was exactly the same case, literally lifted from another that wasn’t allowed to go ahead on the grounds that the original person bringing it couldn’t possibly be affected, it seems blatantly obvious this is an exercise in targeting individuals in order to silence the rest of us.

Creeps who attempt this kind of persecution should absolutely not be given any privacy. It’s not as if they need to bring the case. It’s entirely a choice.

In the other case, that Andreas' case has now been merged with, the claimant was refused anonymity. The claimant in that case is Samantha Tempest (obviously an anime fan 🙄). Is that what you might be thinking of?

It's good that the two cases have been merged, but it means that the final hearing has now been pushed back to June 2026. I really feel for Andreas having this hanging over him until then. Hopefully he will be successful in having the case against him struck off in October.
