Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

I saw that article, thought it was an utter waste of a webpage.

What I would like to see on the BBC is some articles (like the two they've had from men post SC ruling simpering about their 'gender' change) from women talking about what the SC means for them. Women who need to access single sex rape crisis. Women who need single sex changing rooms who have been excluded from public life because those spaces have been taken away for the last 5 years. Disabled women who are now guaranteed same sex care.

I won't be holding my breath though.

I watched him and Fiona Bruce on the news last night going on about how complicated the issue is, but talking about gender the whole time. It’s not difficult, and it’s sex, not gender (I might have shouted at the telly)

Llamasarellovely · 23/04/2025 10:51

Yeah I noticed that as well. Pointing out the actual law is absolutely as bad as rape threats, everyone knows that 🙄

TheOtherRaven · 23/04/2025 10:53

They have however corrected this bit of misinformation:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crldey0z00ro

footnote: Correction: This article originally said that the ruling means that transgender women with a gender recognition certificate (GRC) can be excluded from single-sex spaces if "proportionate". However this is inaccurate and so this line has been removed from the story.

But yes, the groaning and footdragging and absolute inability to care about anyone but trans people is grinding. Particularly when the cause for all this pity is that it turns out women have inconvenient legal protections. I mean damn those women, how dare they. They should have just shut up and let the government pretend they didn't. Women's rights and equalities should apparently only exist on paper and not in practice.

Yes I would love to see this journalist cover the vile abuse Fred/Freda( ex paramedic) sent the young woman with complex disabilities for daring to say she would prefer a female as a carer. Yeah both sides my backside...

PrettyLittleFlower · 23/04/2025 11:07

The funny thing is that on r/transgenderUK they are trying to organise a boycott of the BBC for not being trans positive enough.

Shortshriftandlethal · 23/04/2025 11:11

Chris Mason is as harmless as they come.......he's trying to report without taking sides - given his position as a BBC reporter. He could clearly see that Kemi was on fire and back to her best.

‘Both sides’ is so incredibly bad. The violence and threats have been from one side.

Men. And a few women who agree with their behaviour.

Come on. Politicians and media spout this both sides drivel more than anyone. Get it together.

DragonRunor · 23/04/2025 11:21

I’d really love Chris Mason et al to demo some examples where GC women have been as bad as:
die in a grease fire
choke on my lady dick
decapitate terfs
etc (too many to mention)
Not forgetting the actual physical attacks eg in NZ

Anything even close to equivalent on the GC side Chris?

BrightOrangeDahlias · 23/04/2025 11:25

I read that article and this line jumped out to me: "The abuse and vitriol that fly into my inbox every time I report on it are really quite something".

I noted he didn't elaborate on which side the abuse and vitriol was coming from I think we can guess
