Given that the ruling is a clarification of existing legislation, I am anticipating some court cases. Which would be great.

Would love to see Stonewall held to account.

They need to be sued into oblivion by all those organisations who will now need to spend £££ to remedy the unlawful actions and facilities they implemented on SW advice

Not just by organisations - an individual suffering detriment can also bring an action against Stonewall if Stonewall instructed the org to discriminate against women/gender critical people (which it did quite openly in many, many instances).

So even if the Bailey appeal fails on the facts, there’s still the prospect that another individual could make a claim (especially where the organisation has hidden behind Stonewall’s advice to defend the gender-based policies they’ve adopted).

It makes perfect sense that organisations will want to blame Stonewall for leading them astray, both because it mitigates their own actions and because it’s what actually happened. The pressure Stonewall applied to its index contenders and champions was immense.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Stonewall starts deleting a lot of its public statements in the coming days, so I’d suggest people get archiving and screen-grabbing while they can!

I hope they are bricking it.

I’m watching the Brighton rape crisis case with interest https://didlaw.com/sarah-summers-press-release-3-may-2022

If anyone would like to donate to the crowdfunder for this case (just Google Sarah Summers Brighton) a generous person is currently matching any donations made before the end of today.

In July 2022 after Alison Bailey won her first case Stonewall put this disclaimer on every one of the pages on their website so they must recognise the danger of being sued.

"Stonewall is proud to provide information, support and guidance on LGBTQ+ inclusion, working towards a world where we're all free to be. This does not constitute legal advice, and is not intended to be a substitute for legal counsel on any subject matter."

There's a vast array of organisations and the senior leaders in them who could be successfully sued:

The NHS (senior staff) for wedging not just men claiming to be women but sex offending men into women's hospital wards
A school (Headteacher) for socially transitioning a child in secret from parents
A prison (prison governor)for enabling a man claiming to be a woman to share showers / cells with women
And so on.

The only thing that will finally knock this on the head is when senior staff have to defend their actions in court when charged with making the hospital / school / prison / workplace a dangerous and hostile environment for women and girls.
