On the positive side, it's refreshing to see the term 'violence against WOMEN' in use - here in Ireland the term 'gender-based violence' is used all the time, women's refuges are now just 'refuges', my local RCC welcomes male clients [not trans, just male, and has done so for many years] and it's obviously considered bad form to point out who's doing most of the violence, and to whom.
So I completely get your comments about systemic sexism in the police, but every time I see a headline like that, or hear male violence against women and girls being named as such in the UK media, it highlights the extent to which it's downplayed and made gender-neutral here, compared with the UK.
