The original thread has been deleted for “breaking Mumsnet guidelines”. Not sure why but possibly “misgendering” or possibly making it too easy to find the crowdfund @mumsnet it would be good if you could let us know so this thread can stay up. Do we have to pretend that the Claimant is female?

Two people of unmentionable sex (not female) will be competing against each other in the female finals of the ultimate pool women’s pro series event.

How many not-females entered the competition to start with?

What is the success rate for people of unmentionable sex (not female) as opposed to females reaching the final?

I hope this feeds into the defendants' case next week.

Yes good point. I think I've seen Lynne Pinches say there are two not-females competing. The chances of a reported 0.25% of the population taking both final places in a female sporting event must be pretty slim (unless, perhaps, there was some sort of unfair advantage to being a person of unmentionable sex.)

Hopefully the EBPF will leap on this serendipitous circumstance to help their case.

And of course, I have collected a deletion.

Mmmnotsure · 06/04/2025 21:02

Presumably a large number of women paid to enter this competition.

Wonder what they think about that, and about the final destination of any prize money paid out.

I really hope that, at some point, Mumsnet finds the courage to stand up to these whining men. They truly are bullies, watching a women’s forum and stopping the women from telling the truth.

We’re not going to stop telling the truth about you! We’ll win in the end, case by case… in court.

Mmmnotsure · 06/04/2025 21:08

This is Mumsnet. The community - the "product" - is primarily women.

What do we tell our children?

Tell the truth.
Stand up to bullies.

Hi there OP,

We can see the previous post was deleted due to misgendering.

Does ‘misgendering’ translate as referring to someone as their correct sex? And, not pretend someone is of the other sex? I do so admire those of an upright and honest character who won’t collude in a lie. Or, feign a denial of scientific reality.

I thought there was freedom of religious belief. Even freedom from having to adopt what one sees as the false beliefs of others.

I expect there to be as much deleting of posts which do not uphold the pretence of a belief in a flat earth, as some other anti science exponents find it so offensive to refer to mother pancake as a globe.

Also, babies are delivered by storks (when they aren’t found under the cabbages), so the pregnancy and childbirth section is offensive to those people.

There are many people who believe many impossible things. Do we have to go along with it all? Or just the ones which primarily benefit and indulges men’s sense of entitlement and control?

I wonder if this will cause the organisers to rethink.

Or how many the final 4 will make them rethink? Like the medal placers for the Rio 800 metres.

Go Naomi. Now there’s a barrister who knows her stuff. I bet her bundles are always in pristine order.

DontStopMe · 06/04/2025 21:32

Prize money: £10000 for the winner, £4000 for the runner up, semi finalists get £2000. So one woman has lost out on £8000 and another has lost out on £2000.

And two more women have lost out on being in the semifinals.

It's a massive grift for mediocre male sportsmen who've rarely succeeded in men's sport as well as the occasional older man taking advantage of his biological advantages to outperform younger women in their own categories (think weightlifting).

Fortunately the general public have no problem in identifying the cheating and unfairness - especially as most are aware how years ago, women were barred from so many sports. Ironically having fought to be allowed to compete, women are now yet again, being excluded from the same sports.

BettyBooper · 06/04/2025 22:07

Two men in the final of the women's pool league and MN is concerned about misgendering? A website for women?! WTAF.

I am utterly disgusted.

Bannedontherun · 06/04/2025 22:13

RMW representing the claimants makes the tribunal worth a watch, in of itself. No doubt it will be on NC watch list.

Am sure it will be a claim full of case citations that are likely to be fanciful.

Since the league offered an open category it is hard to imagine what argument RMW has available to themself, unless of course it is TWAW, which all of us non lawyers know is not the law.

Humpty dumpy comes to mind.

BettyBooper · 06/04/2025 22:14

How many men winning in women's sports before it's ok to say something about this? How long do we have to be kind to men who are killing women's sports? Serious question MNHQ.

One could say that in this particular sport since the final has two trans persons it demonstrates quite obviously what happens to women’s sport generally speaking.

Mmmnotsure · 06/04/2025 22:51

Men taking women's sports away from them, in

Pool
Fencing
Running
Disc golf

for starters. All in the last few days.

It is getting ridiculous.

murasaki · 06/04/2025 23:27

RMW is hilariously bad. I hope I'm allowed to say that as no misgendering took place.
