Kellie-Jay in New Zealand - two years on from that awful day!

Terrifying watching again what happened in New Zealand two years ago, hundreds of men breaking through the barriers like wild animals to attack Kellie-Jay and the other women. I thought they were were all going to be killed.

KJK is watching her own live stream for the first time and commenting.

Edit: post won't show the YouTube preview for some reason.

Oh, I remember this, I think I started a thread here that night.

I honestly thought she would be killed. That awful howling mob with all the baby pink and blue banners.

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/03/2025 10:45

We don't get previews any more. Not since the CSA images.

NotmeMother · 26/03/2025 10:46

Was that already 2 years ago! I remember it well, very chilling indeed.

I remember that night, I was watching, sobbing, in tears, utterly shocked at the absolute hatred pouring from those people towards the women and Posie. My view of New Zealand (and Australia) changed dramatically.

I remember it to, it was quite an eye opener to what women who were trying to speak out had to contend with. They were literally a baying mob, and made me realise that the so called 'left' had worse animals that anything on the so called 'far right' had. I've been a big admirer of KJK ever since, I don't agree with everything she say's but to continue to speak out after that, takes courage, lots and lots of courage. 👏

It was horrific to watch, I was also watching live, I think a lot of us here were.

It was the day Middle Earth became Gilead in the public consciousness. A whole new generation of women realised what we had long suspected anyway, and what our mothers and grandmothers had tried to quietly, in their own ways, warn us about. That just under the surface, that when it really comes down to it, this country holds women in absolute contempt and there is very little we can do about it. Jacinda Ardern knew it too - she was hounded out of office just as hard as all those women at Albert Park. The unhinged threats of violence she received paralleled the unhinged hatred toward women on display at Albert Park. Whether from the Left or from the Right, whatever the cultural excuse or religious doctrine, each tradition has its own finely tuned ways of telling women to sit down, shut up and get to the back of the room (or the kitchen preferably). And NZ proves very fertile soil for each iteration.

I agree with you. I have extensive family connections and various friends in New Zealand, and while I love it for its beauty and remote nature and I know that theoretically it's one of the safest places in the world to live, when travelling there I have, every time, had moments of encountering men who were very open in their contempt for women. The veneer of liberalism is very thin.

There were newspaper cartoons explicitly linking KJK to the far-right. They called her a Nazi. It was bizarre.

Have you seen this on on the LWS website?

I have one of those!

No, she’s not brave and stunning, she courts controversy and danger. She is actively seeking to start fights right now in Nottingham. Her eyes lit up when she was in the car and first saw the mob in NZ. She presumed she’d be safe and she quite clearly didn’t give a damn about the women who turned up for her. There is a big difference between someone who will say what needs to be said, despite the danger, and someone who will say anything in order to provoke controversy and get more clicks and likes.

Yes, I'd always wanted to visit before but would never after that event. Utterly terrifying. A mob of deranged violent men attacking older women, and the police deliberately not attending.

Very lucky nobody was killed. Revealed a horrifying side to the culture.

My friends were there in the thick of it. I was watching from uk on YouTube.
I was texting friend “updates”. Not only was it personally very frightening but they didn’t know what had happened to PP and were terrified for her.

she still has issues with watching any coverage as the sounds of it brings all the terror & everything back.

If we found it difficult to watch I can't imagine how she finds it.

For anyone affected by this, PTSD can be treated effectively using EMDR and there are other things that can help.

It's brave to stand up for what you believe in, but also brave to seek support for trauma.
