Alasdair Gunn (Angus Fox) cancer free

Back in 2021, Alasdair Gunn (as Angus Fox) wrote an insightful and gentle series of articles about a newly emerging cohort of teen boys who were identifying as girls (link in next post). His writing was the first place that many parents of boys in this new cohort saw something that wasn’t affirming, and was a huge lifeline for many. He has been battling stage 4 - ie, usually end of life - cancer for a few years now. Yesterday he announced that, as a result of new, experimental treatment, he is completely cancer-free:

I’ve heard him on the Gender A Wider Lens podcast. He has always comes across as a thoughtful, considered person. I’m pleased to hear this news. That’s a powerful short video. Congratulations on your miracle Alasdair. 🙏

Great news! - l also used to listen to Gender A Wider Lens and he was always very powerful in what he said. I still remember him talking about the importance of sex and love bonds with a partner you form when younger and how that takes you through the the later difficult /dark times in your life. It was in relation to lies of « gender affirming care » for young gay boys

I remember these articles. I wish him well.

I agree - a really powerful and insightful speaker. He’s one of a number of gay men (Mr Menno, Dennis Kavanagh, others…) who saw what was happening to young gay boys and tried to sound the alarm.

I saw his twitter post - incredibly moving. He was so compassionately to those not are fortunate as him also. What a lovely man.

I will freely admit I was completely tearing up when I watched the video. And yes, his responses to the comments are so generous and compassionate. He writes and speaks like that too about gender confused kids - as I said, he’s been a lifeline for many, I think.

Yes also agree. And so pleased that Alasdair is well.

His chats on Gender A Wider Lens were wonderful.

Another couple of people to add to “inspirational gay men” are Clive Simpson and Jack Davis of Two Poofs and a Podcast. I alternately laugh and cry at their conversations. Two men who are really looking out for their community.

Have heard of Clive Simpson, but haven’t ever listened to the podcast. That sounds like quite the recommendation - will go check them out, thank you!

That’s wonderful, thanks so much for letting us know about his good news. I’ve always enjoyed listening to his podcasts and public speaking on the negative effects Genderism has on society (particularly on children). He’s a thoughtful and intelligent speaker.

Wonderful news! I did get a bit worried at the lack of update a month or so ago but a search didn't bring up any news either way.

afraidanonaccount · 23/03/2025 04:40

Thanks for this post, it was really interesting. I've read all the articles and I could relate to a fair few things - especially in the sixth post (i'm not particularly bright though).

I'm glad he survived this and doing okay now. I hope he will have a fulfilling, well-spent life in the future as well. :)
