Scotland's care watchdog says girls in care should share rooms with boys who self-ID as female

In the latest development of Scotland’s single-sex scandal, the Care Inspectorate says looked-after transgender children ‘should not be made to use the toilet or bedroom of their sex assigned at birth’.

The edict adds that trans youngsters should be able to ‘share a room with other young people who share their gender identity’.

Astonishingly, it also states there is ‘no law in Scotland’ that protects single-sex spaces.

Articles continues at https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14502831/Fury-Scotlands-care-watchdog-says-girls-care-share-rooms-boys-self-ID-female.html

Who is it that has been going round Scottish organisations, political parties, the charity sector, and telling them that under the law no single sex services are permitted. And why is anyone believing them when you can just look up and read the EA on the internet.

Or mabye Scotland lives in a parrallel universe governed by alternative view points and facts.

Care watchdog: Girls should share rooms with boys who ID as female

Girls in care should share a bedroom with boys who 'self-identify' as the opposite gender , according to 'terrifying' guidance issued by a watchdog.

These people are sick and twisted. As if young girls in care aren't vulnerable enough already. This makes me so angry

Kelse789 · 16/03/2025 02:06

It just beggars belief doesn't it.

Toseland · 16/03/2025 02:07

Some claim to be the most oppressed and vulnerable whilst putting the actual most vulnerable into the worst situation possible. There are some evil people behind this. I hope they are exposed.

nocoolnamesleft · 16/03/2025 02:09

Girls in care are some of the most vulnerable people imaginable. This is shocking.

Monomaniacal · 16/03/2025 03:29

Name changed for this - I just wrote a fairly detailed comment about similar situations I have experienced in the mental health field I work in (not in the UK), but then I deleted it out of paranoia. But this situation doesn't surprise me at all.

The gender identity belief system is like a type of high control religion (I'm using a euphemism obviously but not sure I can use the actual word without being deleted!) where otherwise sane people lose all sense of reality. And the majority of the people I work with believe in gender identity and would probably advocate for girls identifying as boys to share boys bedrooms as well. They would absolutely consider themselves to be doing the right thing for their client. And in every other way they're very lovely and dedicated people. It's completely baffling to me as well as alarming how this ideology has sucked people in.

Appalling!

BeyondHumanKenDoll · 16/03/2025 06:13

This is absolutely sickening.

@Monomaniacal

They believe they are doing the right thing because they have an implicit values system that tells them the rights of a transgender person to affirmation are more important than the rights of a girl to safety. This is what the care watchdog is effectively saying even though they are dealing with the most vulnerable girls in society.

It is misogyny but like fish in water they can't see it.

ScarlettSunset · 16/03/2025 07:27

When something goes wrong with this (as it clearly will and may well already be happening), the people who signed off on this should not only face financial penalties but proper jail time too.

It's horrific that they can put truly vulnerable girls into such dangerous situations. I don't for one second believe they REALLY think it's the right thing to do, as simple basic common sense after a few seconds of thought shows that it clearly isn't.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 16/03/2025 07:31

FFS. Why does all the decades of safeguarding knowledge go out the window the minute trans is mentioned?! Why have people lost their goddamn minds?

It's like certain men have found a way to tap into some primaeval, hardwired misogyny that has only ever been papered over. It's horribly telling.

All these people blithely imagining that they are just and fair and understand equality, but deep down the hard core belief that women are mere second class support humans burns away.

And these awful, manipulative, twisted men have found a way to harness it.

It’s absolutely disgusting.

a Care Inspectorate not protecting vulnerable girls is beyond appalling.

People in authority writing his nonsense should be sacked.

There’s no excuse for it.

who appointed these stupid people to place vulnerable girls in this situation, they should be sacked, tgey dint know their elbow from their foot, all these children identifying as someone else put them all together, girls with girls, boys with boys.. Its common sense which is not allowed these days it appears,

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 16/03/2025 08:09

I totally disagree with the principle of this of course and know first hand the vulnerability of our children in care. That said I don't really understand in reality how this would come to pass because children don't bedroom share anyway in care unless occasionally siblings might when in foster care but a bedroom sharing risk assessment has to be completed. Would never happen in a children's home, they always have their own room. Foster care regulations don't typically allow for bedroom sharing. Children's home are generally mixed sex & bathrooms are generally communal anyway although obviously have a lock. There are occasional single sex homes for children with specific issues so maybe it's talking about those.

Yougetmoreofwhatyoufocuson · 16/03/2025 08:09

You couldn’t make up such downright nonsense. As if a girl in care needs any more to deal with.

Institutional abuse of girls.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/03/2025 08:21

Children in care of the state were one of the first groups that transactivists targeted. Writing policies for local authorities, foster carers and providing endless training was a major source of income for certain men claiming to be women.
Authorities completely failed to see the safeguarding breaches let alone consider how children alienated from their families were sitting ducks for the idea that their bodies could be flawed but transformed into a new person with a quick sex change.

BeLoyalCoralHiker · 16/03/2025 08:24

I’m shocked that room sharing is ok at all, growing up I had friends who were being fostered and my understanding is that children in care have their own rooms.

James Morton has probably also been heavily influential in Scotland and some of the loudest voices at Holyrood are female. Many years ago, Scotland was more paternalistic than England, I believe, as well as tending more towards strong religious faith.

I think this current sickness is very centralized and still largely invisible, until it isn’t, as with Sandie Peggie, for example. Those I have spoken to reject this broadly, yet it is pervasive within institutions, pushed from the top down.

I saw this thread and honestly want to cry for those girls. Those who need most protection are being used and abused again, but I have no idea what I can do about it.

Bagpussnotbothered · 16/03/2025 08:27

We need this raised and rejected in Parliament. I'm now working during about the English equivalent- I doubt it's any better given the number of scandals in thr sector.

RethinkingLife · 16/03/2025 08:28

State sanctioned abuse of some of the genuinely most troubled, traumatised, and vulnerable children.

What is happening to people’s brains? It’s as if there’s a new puppet master with ends in mind that is invisible to the unaffected.

Toxoplasma gondii forms cysts in people’s brains. Unless their host has a weak immune system, their cysts cause no apparent harm. But they make up in numbers what they may lack in deadliness. Perhaps a billion or more people carry Toxoplasma cysts in their brain. They pick up the parasites in the soil, undercooked meat, or cat litter.

It’s in cats that the Toxoplasma life cycle gets its start. The parasites mate in the intestines of cats and then produce egg-like offspring, which are passed out with cat droppings. The durable eggs can stay viable for months as they wait for their next host–which can be any species of mammal or bird. Those hosts swallow the parasites, which migrate out of their gut and wander their body; the ones that make it to the brain form protective cysts and play the waiting game again. Only if they can get back into a cat’s gut will they be able to take the next step in the Toxoplasma life cycle.
As other cases of parasite manipulation came to light, some scientists wondered whether Toxoplasma might have some tricks of its own. After all, there’s one obvious opportunity for increasing its odds of getting into cats: make its host easier for cats to catch.

Starting in the late 1990s, a number of researchers published evidence indicating that the parasite does, in fact, do this. Most of the work has been carried out on rats and mice. In a number of experiments, infection with Toxoplasma appears to make the rodents less frightened by the smell of cat urine. Some studies even hint at an attraction to the scent of their killer. (I’ve written about some of the research in recent years here and here.)

Institutional abuse of girls.

Yes. This enrages me. As a society haven’t we learned from the Rotherham grooming scandal just how vulnerable these girls are? Nobody looks out for them - then the service that should have SAFEGUARDING at its very core decides that males can enter their private spaces. WTAfuckingF??

Forester1 · 16/03/2025 08:32

If I was in Scotland I’d be writing to my MP / MSP on this but does anyone know the position in the rest of the UK?

Igmum · 16/03/2025 08:36

This is appalling. How on earth could anyone have thought for even a nanosecond that this was acceptable? What do they put in the water in Scotland?

As an aside well done to the DM for all of the sunlight it sheds on this (and I never thought I would say that).
