This is great, and just noticed that SEEN in journalism have a new podcast with Susan Smith.

SEEN in education doesn’t seem to exist.

weegielass · 04/10/2025 07:10

Sadly I dont see the SEEN networks doing much other than tweeting and retweeting. If they do more, they need to make that more visible.
edit : I do think the journallism one is the most active though as I saw about the podcast.

Surely the point is to be somewhere supportive for people working in the same profession.

They aren't necessarily campaign groups.

And in the end being more visible is only every how much others whether as individuals or as the media report what they say or are doing.

But primarily, which is why I bumped this thread was in case not everyone was aware that might be a SEEN group relevant to them that they could join for mutual support.

Of course, anyone who thinks an issue should have a campaign could start a campaign group and you could join that, or start it yourself!

"Myth 5: “it is acceptable to equate gender critical views with transphobia and fascism, or those who hold them as being bigots, far right or far right adjacent or genocidal”"

(a) Not 'genocidal', eliminationist, though I have without a shadow of a doubt that some of the more deranged anti-trans leaders, such as Graham Linehan and KJK would gladly put trans people in camps. Hell if they're getting off trans people getting raped or subjected to violent genital torture, then they're pretty much there already.

(b) anti-trans activists don't get to decide what constitutes transphobia, obviously.

BeeSourianteAgain · 04/10/2025 23:07

"Myth 9: “SEEN opposes gender nonconformity”"

Having spent far too much time in 'gender critical' spaces, gender critical activists absolutely oppose gender non-conformity, hell most of them don't even know what it means and suddenly "have concerns" over the most mildest of GNC.

I remember putting this to that Scottish bestiality fan GC (the one who ended up in the tabloids) and he showed me a picture of some GC activist in a kilt 😂😂

Great to keep this thread bumped. The podcasts from SEEN in Journalism have been fascinating. Especially the one about the capture of the state broadcaster by trans extremism from an early stage and how those toxic beliefs negatively influenced the ability of the BBC to uphold their requirement to be politically impartial. Hence their repeated mangling of facts etc and failure (until more recently) to cover so many issues that affect women.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 04/10/2025 23:26

Here's a link to their 4th episode. Haven't listened to it yet, but the others were excellent listening. So enjoyable to hear intelligent women allowed to speak freely and at length without the interjections of tedious mediocre males.

I did see a post (I may even had created a thread!) where one University was said to have had the first SEEN.

Sadly, as with many other feministing, if there isn't a group you would really like there to be, you have to create it!

Have found the thread

I signed up to SEEN in HR and SEEN in Charity (pretty sure I know who runs the latter and she used to work with me, but i won't out her). Unfortunately both these accounts do not give me any information beyond tweeting/retweeting etc.

Its good to have visibility but people won't really pay attention unless they are doing more - at least SEEN in Journalism appears to be really pushing the matter, writing letters, podcasting etc. And SEEN in CIvil Service had a tribunal case didn't they? The others seem to be too quiet.

If I personally had the time, I'd want to set up a SEEN in DEI as not all of us who work / used to work in DEI are captured and I'd like to see DEI's reputation improved as we used to do good work before it was all T focused.

As said before.

Where does it say they are campaign groups?

If they are providing mutual support to those working in the same industry, and that is what it was set up to do, what is the problem.

If someone wants a campaign group and there isn't one, they can set one up.

The tribunal case is ongoing still I think. I think a SEEN in DEI would be a fantastic idea.

IwantToRetire · 05/10/2025 19:13

Should add, that I haven't had time, but did wonder if all SEENs have the same purpose. One I saw SEEN in higher education or something made me wonder.
