Yes. Whenever someone plays any sport, you risk injury. True. But you shouldn't have to think about being injured by a man, who is stronger, runs faster than you, hits harder in say boxing,etc.

And women cannot consent to the risk of injury by a male in women's sports because the males shouldn't be there. Doubly so when the rules, playing area, or equipment are actually different between the sexes for safety reasons.

A volleyball net has a safety function: preventing "spiking", in which the ball is thrown downwards instead of upwards. A player can put force into a spike that they cannot put into an upwards throw. Think about the difference in speed and force in cricket overhand bowling, which has a downwards element to the trajectory from the start, versus rounders underhand bowling that goes up before falling.

A male volleyball net is seven inches (I think that's about 18cm) higher than a female volleyball net because men are taller than women. The higher net for men stops them spiking each other.

It was a male player's spike to Payton's head, over that lower female net, that paralysed her. Her scream on the video is heartbreaking.

I am not trying to defend her comment, nor am I accepting Matt Walsh's definition of her context since he is not a reliable source. What is he selling apart from ground up fruit and vegetables? Outrage and righteousness. I'm not buying.

I am trying to understand her comment so that I can better counter it in a way that brings people on side. That's what I'm here for. I have friends and family who spout twaw.

I agree 100% with everything Matt Walsh says about her. I'd say even worse.

I think I hate Matt Walsh more than Trump, but her comment was disgusting. I wish people would stop giving him the ability to make him look like the more reasonable person.

That's what I'm talking about. He loves to show people disgusting things so he can claim the moral high ground. But what's in it for the other side? The hahahahaha side?

Now I'm wondering if it's like Westboro Baptist Church, the more they disgusted people, the more abuse they received and the more righteous they felt. Maybe some won't ever leave because they're too invested but some might if people actually listen to them so they can point out how false the logic is. Like Megan Phelps Roper. Except this is on a much wider scale and managed to capture healthcare and legislative institutions.
