More absolute nonsense about JKR being hated and anti trans

For journalists they’re not very good at understanding actual words are they?

Actors be warned: the Harry Potter remake should be avoided like the plague

John Lithgow is the latest star tipped to feature in the lavish new adaptation of JK Rowling’s books. For any actor to get involved at this point would be a grave error for so many reasons, writes Louis Chilton

Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley) was pretty good in the recent Wolf Hall - the Mirror and the Light.

They haven't shown that yet on my side of the Atlantic - I think it's coming on Masterpiece Theatre in March. I'm really looking forward to it. The books were wonderful and the TV series has done an excellent job with them.

Speaking of Rowling and TV series - we've just worked our way through the C.B.Strike series on Max, which were also excellent. I just read that they've commissioned someone to write the script for The Running Grave, but I guess it'll be another year before that's on the screen.

I e seen Grint in a couple of things in the last few years and he’s a better actor now than he was then.

That's a low bar, to be fair

I hope she sues him, she isn't anti trans just pro biology- idiot

It is clickbait which will hype the show to the next level. Remember when TAs made a reasonable HP game the most talked about game online for weeks leading it to become the best selling game of the year. Hilariously Chilton doesn't know he is being used to make JKR, Warner Brothers and the Indy money.

The Indy runs that article then a day later runs this positive article adding to the hype and interest about the cast.

Harry Potter TV show cast rumours, from Voldemort to Snape
Many famous names are being bandied around for HBO’s high-profile TV adaptation of the books

Whether you like it or not, Harry Potter fever is sweeping Hollywood once again – this time thanks to a high-profile TV series that’ll take over screens for a decade.

HBO and Warner Bros are behind the new project, which, in their own words, is “drawing a lot of rumour and speculation” about who will play the show’s primary characters.

Just wanted to say that Wolf Hall is on BBC iplayer - if you get a VPN like Surfshark or similar you should be able to watch it from anywhere (I watch it from abroad). Also there's loads of good content on BBC these days.

Britinme · 16/02/2025 19:34

Yes I have a VPN, but the series is also coming on Masterpiece Theatre in March so I'm willing to wait until then and watch it on a larger screen than my computer. I do use my computer to watch things like the Great Pottery Throw-Down on Channel 4, and Homes Under the Hammer on the BBC.

I doubt John Lithgow (six Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Tony Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame) will give Louis Chilton’s (Gaming News and LGBTQ interest stories at a handful of minor U.K. papers) idiocy more than a seconds thought.

(it is curious how retro such articles seem. Celebrity trans activism is so far behind the current zeitgeist it comes across as rather quaint)

Abhannmor · 16/02/2025 22:14

Yes hyped up hysteria about terfs has a certain period charm now.

WandsOut · 16/02/2025 22:45

Let me guess, the author of the article has a dark academia YA throbbing trans six book trilogy he's flogging?
