I'm sure that anyone who saw it will always remember the rat experiment.

On another thread, Icake mentioned this video on Youtube. The rat experiment is, as many of us suspected, the tip of the iceberg.

'9 Feb 2025
At Thursday's House Oversight Committee hearing, witness Justin Goodman Senior Vice President at the White Coat Waste Project, spoke to Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH) about gender transition experiments on animals'.

How many more labs around the world are experimenting on animals in this way? How much suffering is this causing?

I never want to hear or read 'be kind' again!

I haven't seen the testimony yet but I understand that it concerns the US. I would like anyway to add, having worked in animal research here in the UK but having colleagues that have moved in the US, that the UK has very sound and careful laws around medical experimentation. Suffering to animals has to be justified prior to the beginning of a project, has to be minimised (limits are strict!) and any single instance of breach has to be declared and investigated. This is quite different from the US - where I think there are also differences between states.
Finally, I alway think that, if good animal studies about puberty blockers/cross sex hormones had been conducted prior to these "therapies" being given to humans, a lot of human suffering would have been prevented.
Obviously there is a discussion to be had on the necessity of animal research.

And this is the issue. Much of the focus on the NIH, the WHO and research in general is a vendetta against Dr Fauci.

A vendetta against the guy who created covid? You have got to be kidding. The damage that man has done, and who was then brought in as an expert to manage the situation that he himself created?

WTF! You think Fauci created Covid? Really???!!!

Chersfrozenface · 10/02/2025 10:19

@AlisonDonut COVID-19 is a zoonotic disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The virus, like SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV and flu viruses, and about 200 others we know of, passed from animals to humans.

There have been other epidemics and pandemics of zoonotic origin, like the Black Death and the so-called Spanish Flu. There will undoubtedly be others in future.

You actually believe this?

Enough4me · 10/02/2025 10:36

All the money spent, all the animals injured and no new way to turn a man into a woman. Surely this can't be correct.
Anyone would think it was impossible!?

Seriously, I know the Republican's hate him but they're bonkers, what's your excuse.

The Communist Party of China let the Yanks have a lab on their territory?

A lot of this commentary is confusing the unrelated word transgenic with transgender. (Transgenic refers to the exchange of genes.) It’s people who can’t read burning down libraries again.

Chersfrozenface · 10/02/2025 13:46

It's also influenced by a shortening to 'trans' of the word 'transition', meaning the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another, based on the idea of changing sex, in order to create an adjective other than 'transitional' or 'transitioned'.

But changing sex is impossible, so there is in fact no actual transition.

It's not controversial that there was American (and other, IIRC) funding involved in the Wuhan lab.

Just take care here with the Republicans' motivations. They aren't just taking aim what they consider wasteful, or woke - they are looking to shut down all research. I wouldn't be cheering it on.

You believe Republicans want to shut down all medical research?

knitnerd90 · 11/02/2025 10:23

What conspiracy theory nonsense have I walked into?

Dr. Fauci would have had very little if anything to do with trans research. He was the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for 40 years. He's become a right wing bogeyman because of his involvement with the COVID response. He didn't create it. Much of his research was on AIDS. He worked on other US infectious disease responses.

he wasn't head of NIH as a whole and I can't think of what research on trans patients would come under NIAID. Child health and human development, probably (despite the name, NICHD also deals with adult reproductive issues. Other endocrine problems and urology come under NIDDK.)

not all, but they want billions in cuts to NIH right now and we don't know what else is to come. It' a huge topic amongst scientists and researchers. It's so significant that some Republican senators are speaking up. It will hobble US research capacity and cost tens of thousands of jobs. The cuts are not targeted, it is all NIH grants. He thinks it will punish "woke universities" but it is also going to result in swinging cuts to children's hospitals.

In the US, yes. Certainly all that appear funded by federal purse, even in part -but that isn't the primary reason. Anti-intellectualism is behind it.

you're wasting your time unfortunately - everything that's science has been 'captured' don't you know. The amount of right wing disinformation of this forum is astounding.

partystress · 11/02/2025 11:04

I think one of the difficulties with getting people on board with how horrific this is is that GI believers have been persuaded that it actually is life or death. Without ‘affirming’ treatment, suicide will inevitably follow. Therefore animal experimentation is justified.

How anyone could condone the sex chem stuff though is beyond me.

And if you report it, you’re just told to challenge on the thread. Mumsnet HQ don’t care about spreading misinformation and as a result we have nonsense threads like this.

You’re probably right. But if even one of them realises that not every word that begins with trans is related to transgender perhaps it’s worth it. When they are finished destroying molecular biology I suppose they’ll be going for the translators next.
