TW extreme violence - this attack on female prisoners in Congo is the worst thing I have read for a very long time

Just utterly horrific. Those poor defenceless women.

What astonishes me is that this happened LAST WEEK and is only today in the UK press. And this isn't even headlines, because of that excrescence Trump and his dangerous rambling.

Women (especially black women, especially women from the developing world, especially poor and marginalised women) mean absolutely nothing on the global stage. Their lives and hideous deaths mean nothing. It makes me so angry I could scream.

Not on a board where TW more usually means transwoman.

I think in places of conflict this is happening to men.

The problem is that western media thinks its audience wont be interested.

In the UK the news media really only reports about the USA and occassionally storied from Europe.

And in a sort of pervy way report stories like this about atrocious attack on women, but make it seem like a one off horror.

Whereas if they actually gave proper news coverage it would show that it is part of an ongoing problem.

Horrendous. The total lack of accountability being taken by anyone. The dead children. It's honestly one of the worst things I've ever heard and it makes me so furious that it isn't getting more news coverage. They were so helpless.
