Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Banned for hate speech

MrsM1ggins · 03/01/2025 09:54

Thought I'd share my ban story since there's a Reddit ban topic.

I got a 30 day suspension from a well known UK motoring forum for stating that 2 boxers at the Olympics in the female category were male and that the IOC claimed that it is too difficult to know what sex people are.

Then I was permanently banned for posting again on the same topic after it came out that Khelif was XY and I pointed out that he'd have known that since at least puberty.

PH moderation decisions are a joke and they don't even have the courage to allow a right of reply. It's not misogyny though, it's just plain cowardice. It's a controversial topic and they don't want anything said on the board that someone external might kick up a stink about so they delete any comments that dissent from the orthodoxy, even when the truth is plain to see.

Pathetic.

I've never seen anyone on reddit get banned for misgendering

So you are there 24/7 across multiple threads/subs? Or are you the only mod who gets to do the banning? Otherwise you are just talking shit yet again.

I've seen some of the now banned gender critical subs (or so-called gender critical subs since they are dominantly about hating LGBT people) and I've seen occasional homophobic and transphobic comments in other subs.

Given it's mostly about making hateful unfounded accusations of a sex offence nature and posting hateful memes (some mocking suicide victims) I am glad reddit takes this seriously and bans members and subs who participate in this.

So if anyone wants to call an LGBT person "AGP" or similar on any platform please back this serious accusation up with evidence such as a news article showing a criminal conviction. Pref something other than the daily mail if possible.

lcakethereforeIam · 08/06/2025 17:24

It's not against the law to be AGP!

Yes another "reddit bad" thread.

Reddit isn't a right-wing anything-goes website like twitter is. It has active moderation to cover racism/homophobia/transphobia/threats/etc. Get over it.

I'm also doubting OP isn't telling us the whole story on why they were banned. Was that all you said or did you slip in some hateful accusatory "AGP" comment as well? I've never seen anyone on reddit get banned for misgendering but I do report any and all of the "AGP" hate stuff I come across or derogatory slurs and that usually leads to a temp or perm ban for them.

This is what poor old chris spends so much time on Mumsnet and Reddit trying to stop others finding out about. Women everywhere should know about the prevalence of AGP and ask whether they want these men sharing changing rooms, showers, hospital wards etc with them and their teenage daughters?

Are you being hateful about AGPs? How unkind if you.

myplace · 08/06/2025 17:37

I would have thought you’d be better off accepting the existence of AGP and its associated behaviours, Chris. I would have assumed you would want to highlight how different AGP men are from ‘tru trans’ people. difference between trans people and AGP men.

Where do you stand on transmaxxers? I only learned about them yesterday.

You call being AGP a crime. What makes you think that? What's wrong - let alone criminally so - about being AGP?

I'm talking about accusing people of being this amongst other accusations I hear about LGBT people. Britain has criminal laws including for malicious communications.

Britain also has the Online Safety Harms Bill now which means forums providing a service to British users will need to take more responsibility for what is being posted.

lcakethereforeIam · 08/06/2025 19:41

No, you said 'back this serious accusation up with evidence such as a news article showing a criminal conviction'. Now you're trying to backtrack.

copi1ot · 08/06/2025 20:18

I have been banned from a few reddit subs (e.g. UkNews and The Rest Is Politics) for pointing out that women and girls have a right to single sex spaces that biological males should not be in. That's it - defending the rights of women and girls, nothing even vaguely transphobic.
As well as being banned, other posters have accused me of pretending to be a feminist in order to "get laid" or that I'm a creepy man obsessed with genitals and the real threat to women. (For the record, I'm a heterosexual woman. The other posters just presume I'm male).

Edit - to clarify I've been banned for hate speech.

I have had posts removed on here for stating biological truth. But not lately. Sea change?

Same here. Frustrating when you’ve done some research and written a detailed post, which gets deleted because you forgot the currently acceptable vocabulary. But that was quite long ago.

Mumsnet has been a lifesaver for many women, not least as a space where bruised feminists can rest and recover among friends.

I am confused. AGP is a fetish men have. So why would anyone call a Lesbian an AGP?

Grammarnut · 09/06/2025 09:20

duc748 · 06/01/2025 13:22

I have supported them too. Wiki gets some (rather snobbish, IMO) stick, but it's a valuable (and free) resource. This is a real disappointment.

It is a disappointment. Wiki gets stick but if you are looking for e.g. historical info or straight science, info on religion etc it is informative and a good source of useful references to follow up. It also has pages on many, many women, painters, medieval and early modern women etc. Lots of stuff on classical myth from cultures across the world, too (and accurate - with various versions of legends and myths). I discovered a lot about Judith Leyster (painter/Dutch golden age) and how her work was passed off as that of Frans Hals (she's that good) - who may have been her teacher - from Wikipedia. It's a long article and includes how her work was rediscovered, and shows several of her paintings.
On IK and trans they have made a major cock-up, I think. Possibly because the moderators are mostly young men from places like California - who don't worry too much about art, presumably.

T people Chris. [Some] T people. Stop hiding behind LGB.

Why is it so important to you that female people are not allowed to define themselves, tell their own stories or fight for the rights and support they need to mitigate the challenges that being female brings?

Why do you hate female people?

Igmum · 12/06/2025 18:19

I too have stopped funding Wikipedia and told them why. They did say that they had improved and welcomed all moderators and IIRC they even had woman as AHF at one stage so I’m disappointed but not surprised that they have gone full koolaid about IK.

BTW does anyone else find this whole TRA scolders trying to make threads all about them annoying? There’s never any evidence, never any thoughtful or substantive challenges, never anything you would want to engage with just unsubstantiated lies, a bit of casual gaslighting and me-me-me. Most of us grow out of this in primary school <sighs>.

Apparently the boys don't grow out of it. Odd how gendered language is even when posting "anonymously" isn't it?

Joeninety · 31/10/2025 21:30

You get banned for anything, everywhere now. It's getting out of hand. Maybe they don't want any bad repercussions from various..........Deleted !!

The term "trans identified male" was flagged up at some Home Office committee as an example of transphobic hate speech on Mumsnet by Trans Media Watch. Shortly after, MN produced guidelines specific to discussing "sex and gender issues".

People should be far more inquisitive about activist groups like TMW & a great deal more willing to apply second-order thinking to their assertions & demands. If nothing else that would already have saved many organisation a great deal of admin & legal expense, damages awards, & complainants' costs awards.

AreYouSureAskedNaomi · 01/11/2025 07:30

Reddit banned my home IP after I did a few searches about IK. I don't even have a reddit account, so I have never posted. So yeah, after those few searches on their search tab, I started getting messages saying "banned." This blocked ny access to the site.

Denying that reddit does heavy censoring about some issues is just dumb. It absolutely is their prerogative, but please let's not pretend it's not happening.

I have just read the opening post and would add, that I was banned by the same motoring forum (PH), at around the same time (early 2025) over allegations of "bullying" and "abuse". I am a bloke and I was also posting about the Algerian boxer - Khelief at the Olympics, stating that testing at independent labs in India had proved that he was/is a biological male. There was also a thread about the "grooming gangs", which I was active on, so it could be either of those which caused me to get a permanent ban. When I contacted PH, asking for more information, nobody replied to me. They obviously have a very cowardly way of shutting people up who tell "inconvenient truths".

anyolddinosaur · 01/11/2025 15:23

Reddit is full of misogynistic teenagers, I'm not banned from it yet but mostly it's such poor quality content I cant be bothered with it.

Thankfully as women have defended their rights in court mumsnet has become less of a site controlled by trans bullies.
