I'm watching my way through this interview and I'm finding it a more wide-ranging interview than I've seen with Kemi before, so I thought I'd post the link here for anyone else who's interested.
I think long form podcasts are producing some very watchable interviews with politicians of late. They are more conversational and so they end up covering topics other than just policies (and tend not to be concentrating on looking for political gotchas) and the politician is not able to rely as heavily on repeating soundbites. So this, in theory, allows viewers to get a better sense of the politician as a person and to get an idea of what drives them.
It's a more conversational style of interviewing that I remember from my childhood, in the days before spin doctors and 24-hour news reduced a lot of politician appearances to repeating talking points over and over to be sure they made it into the final edit. I hope this style of interviewing takes off because I want a better sense of understanding of the people who will influence my life (and who will be looking for my vote).
