FA to be sued by lesbian and women’s rights advocate over Rainbow Laces campaign

Couldn't see this posted, a legal challenge as the FA endorsing a political message in endorsing the rainbow laces campaign.

It's also covered by the daily mail today.

I found the crowd justice page by googling the campaigner's name.

I know the ECB also do rainbow laces, not sure about other sports

Rugby & Hockey do it too. As always it’s the forced teaming of sexuality with people who can’t come to terms with biological reality

This comment sums it up

"Inclusive? It only includes those who pander to trans people. That makes it very exclusive. It excludes women. It excludes anyone who disagrees. It's dictatorial and aggressive. Get this sadistic dangerous ideology out of sports and stop pandering to the most over supported group ever."

MrsOvertonsWindow · 08/12/2024 09:50

The case is being takenby the legendary Linzi Smith - a lesbian Newcastle United supporter who's been banned from watching matches by Newcastle until 2026 for "transphobia". Someone reported her online posts to the club who employed Stasi like tactics, scoured all her online activity, stalked her and then banned her.

Now she's going for the root of the problem - allowing queer theory political activists like Stonewall to run riot in the FA despite them allegedly forbidding political allegiances, symbols etc.

This is very interesting. I am extremely weirded out by the idea of a football club keeping a dossier on a supporter. How do they have the time? Is this a thing they started doing to ban football hooligans and then carried on to include people who disagree with them?

It's a murky FA organisation - and yes I think it was originally aimed at identifying the hooligan / organised crime element. Presumably for the misogynists running the FA, it was too exciting an opportunity to target women (especially a lesbian) who refuses to pander to the powerful trans lobbyists who wield so much power.

LonginesPrime · 08/12/2024 11:17

Good for her - they've treated her appallingly already.

I can't help but think it was a massive own goal on the part of the FA to kick up a fuss about the player writing "I love Jesus" when they said "sorry - no religious or political beliefs allowed" when it was added to a pride armband, which is exactly that in the first place - the publicity around that surely exposed the hypocrisy of the FA's position on pride and makes it untenable.

I'm glad more players and fans are speaking out, for religious reasons or otherwise, as it all helps to highlight the quasi-religious/political nature of modern pride symbols.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 08/12/2024 11:26

Agreed. Presumably the court case will be a slam dunk as there can be no contest that Stonewall / pride is a huge political lobby aiming to overturn the social contract and remove women's rights and child safeguarding.

Igmum · 08/12/2024 13:17

Yes. Hope she wins. Part of the reason these sporting bodies do this is because they think the TRAs will sue and women won't because we are just too nice. They need to lose big a few times to learn their lesson.

GrumpyPanda · 08/12/2024 13:18

So what happened to Linzi's prior lawsuit against the club, anyone know? I thought she was going after them over the ban.

HoppityBun · 08/12/2024 13:21

Someone reported her online posts to the club who employed Stasi like tactics, scoured all her online activity, stalked her and then banned her. Given the recent findings against the LNER for the train painting, perhaps this is now an opportunity to challenge that?

mcduffy · 08/12/2024 13:21

My December gardening budget has been sent her way!

She's got 2 cases going. One against Newcastle for illegally targeting her because of her legally held beliefs & now the second against the FA for breaching it's clear policy on no political allegiances by being in hock to Stonewall.
A woman not to be messed with it seems.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 08/12/2024 13:39

The thing that gets me the most about all these stories that we hear about is it always starts with 'someone complained', it seems it only takes 1 person to destroy someone else's life. When ever in politics or life or anywhere else have individual's ever had so much power.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 08/12/2024 16:29

I note Yasir Mirza hear of EDI at the FA was formerly head of diversity at the BBC and The Guardian

Ah good. I wondered what happened to the first case

mcduffy · 08/12/2024 19:26

It's so chilling how NUFC (or at least someone there) have pursued this. How can they not see how authoritarian (and illegal?) this is? We think we evolve as humans and then just don't learn lessons from recent/living memory about how to behave

I added it to the existing thread about her, so as to keep her ongoing campaign in one place!
